Down and Tired

I have to admit I am really down. I thought we had a much better team this year. I am extremely disappointed with the OL and DL. Maybe my expectations were just too high.
However, I am more tired of the GT fans who get on these boards and blast Chan, the other coaches and rant about a specific player or more. Just once I'd like to see the boards say something about we got beat, we need to improve .... and let's look forward to next week. Alas, these boards are probably the best place for fans to vent so that won't happen.
Following is a few of my observations from watching all of the games and the practices:
Our lines are not as good as we thought; not what the coaches told us but what the fans thought.
We have a lot of experience, but the QB and WRs aren't and it will take some time for them to excel.
K Hall played the Will LB better than Guyton; who is having some problems in space. We don't have a good 3rd LB yet.
The PR position is being played by the guys who in practice, "caught the ball". Unfortuneately today after having some success returning punts Smith forgot the golden rule and looked downfield before making the catch. Mistake likely cost us the game. However, if you don't think special teams has been coached up and the players are performing better than prior years you are mistaken.
Our offense is scoring more points this year than the past few years even in the losses.
Teams are handling our blitz better this year and our weaknesses in the DB is being exposed.
Despite these problems we could have won today except for the 2 plays (freak interception and dropped punt)
I'll continue to support the program (coaches and players) but after setting my expectations pretty high I am really down.

Well, did you tune in last week? Last week I gave all the credit to BC and said that our team needed to learn to give credit where it is due. Matt Ryan was an all world QB, and he played brilliantly, and as fans we need to temper our expectations in losses against very good teams. BC was a very good team.

UVA is not. We needed this win. We have no room for error after the BC game when it comes to Division/Conference games. These guys turned in a lack luster performance and their overly arrogant attitude without backing it up is a reflection on our coaching staff.

BOR, I'll never understand you. Sometimes you have absolutely brilliant insights. Others you are so full of sh**, I can't believe it. To say 2 or 3 players boastful statments are a reflection of arrogance from the coaching staff is ludicrous. I've never seen a more humble coaching staff.

There is alot this team can do...and will. But it starts with enthuasism and cutting down on miscues.

Its not 2 or 3 players after one game. You can go out and look at statements all preseason from all of our main leaders on both sides of the ball that now in hindsight seem very boastful. This isn't just a small subject sampling.

Then after last week, The QB makes some post game comments after BC that were totally off the mark. We got a WR who calls out our OC. You would have thought that 5 days later we would have put a stop to these occurences. But then you have a freaking KICKER basically say the day before the game, that the score shouldn't even be close.

Mentally, these guys are not being prepared well, and you can see that by the numerous penalties and stupid mistakes. Not to mention the coaches own playcalling of bringing in a little used freshman defensive player on offense on a key 4th down conversion. The lack of preparation and mental toughness not only doesn't show up on the field, its showing up in the paper.

Oddly the effort given (or lack of)showed up in a KEY play when we had them pinned on the 1 in the FIRST half and let Peerman get a 1st down on extra effort while we just "sauntered over" to tackle him.We later gave out of time for a TD as we wasted that oppty to rip them.

I have to agree with BOR.

This team is stupid in the press and makes stupid mistakes on the field.

Stupid is is stupid does.

Yeah, I seem recall a great display of humility from this coaching staff following the Miami game two years ago.

I wish there where more posters here like BOR. at least he says it like it is, and does not go into the rah rah act after every lose. I wish more Tech fans had this attitude and maybe Rad and the powers that be would realize we are sick of 7-4 teams and losing to UGA every year. Thing will not change until Chan is OUT!
