I keep seeing where people are posting that the Board shot down Drads first choice(WM) and his team included CH as OC. I thought that Dems shot that down. The dream team of coaches that is. Then people speculated that Drad would leave because the board cut his legs out from under him.

Then there are 5 threads where supposedly PJ is out. But, now someone says he is on campus.

JT is the fall back guy? Where does he fit what Clough said about exciting offense. (Note June Jones has an exciting offense just for comparative purposes, no I am not suggesting hiring him)

Would someone please summarize what the hell is fact. You can skip the speculation.

Thank You,
Irwin M. Fletcher

In summary, no one knows what is happening, nor does anyone know who will be our new coach.

Dem reported on the chat room Monday night that the WM package came with Giff as DC and no Hatcher.

The bottom line is this: Given DRad's comments at the presser announcing the firing of CCG, if we end up with either Paul Johnson or Jon Tenuta, then I know DRad didn't get HIS man. While both are good football coaches, I don't see either of them "reaching out across Atlanta and the State of Georgia with leadership that is aggressive and accessible for the media and fans" Johnson and Tenuta are two of the most un-savvy guys in the profession when it comes to their dealings with the media. I think Clough is acting as the de facto AD in this search. Paul Johnson is a great football coach, but when a guy tells a reporter in an interview that "he doesn't go to McDonalds and tell that guy (a Navy fan who criticized him) how to do his job" or "I don't care what you or the fans think" it's not hard to see he doesn't really care for the media. Something about the whole process smells like sh*t, I just can't figure out where the turd is.

That was assuredly a BS rumor finely crafted to incite and enrage the Tech fanbase. And boy-oh-boy did it do a good job.

There is no way Hatcher goes to the next level as an OC.

I challenge whether Muschamp would have fit that bill any better than Tenuta. The only supporting evidence I've seen on Stingtalk has been a parade of people yelling BOOM!

Dem says Clough shot down Muschamp. Poster here says DRad emailed him and said that wasn't true.

Dem says Johnson is out of the running. AJC reports today that he is interviewing.

???

I think it's been pretty well established as fact that both us and SMU are competing for PJ. It seems highly likely that we made Johnson an offer, but SMU made one that was for more money, and also included a cup of hot fat and the head of Alfredo Garcia.

PS - If you put a Fletch reference in your post I can't resist. But other than that what I say appears to be true.

The Muschamp/Smith information is absolutely true. Don't care who believes it. That was Dan's first choice and it was shot down.

The Hatcher hire was a hope for, but he does not make that much money at GSU, and double the salary probably makes your "no way" statement false. His chances of moving up are just as good as the GT OC-and maybe better-than as GSU HC. Much more visibility. How often does ESPN talk about GSU?

What "supporting evidence" do you need that Muschamp is a better choice than Tenuta other than he was Radakovich's first choice? Seems to me you are ignoring the most significant evidence you could possibly have.

If you believe that, then why not tack Hatcher's name onto every HC scenario? Why not promote Tenuta and hire Hatcher as OC?

Vetting process. Part of the HC's job description is to pass the vetting process. Part of DRad's job description is to find someone who can. Period point blank. Two weeks ago, Stingtalk was all talking about how we need a coach who can unite the fanbase. If you can't pass the vetting process, that's a clear indictment on your ability to unite the fanbase. End of story.

When in doubt, trust Dems. DRAD is most likely politicking and the AJC is running on rumors - maybe from this board.

What makes that true? I want to believe it in hopes we get WM (I like Stoops). By default. Hell I even like Hatcher. I just don't think there is one shread of evidence to support he has been killed off yet.

I trust DEM 100%, and was in chat when he said he didn't think CH was a part of the WM package, but it didn't sound like he definitively knew... may want to ask him for confirmation.

FWIW I heard last night... from two independent sources... that CH agreed to be WM's OC with Giff as DC (the so-called "dream package") before it was nixed by the big $$$$. Again, take it FWIW... i truly believe either was possible.

Remember Muschamp was Hatcher's DC at Valdosta State and the two are good friends... it's entirely possible that WM convinced CH to take the OC job even though most people thought he was holding out for a HC gig.
