DT Logan Walls breaks 2 bones in right leg

He needs to stay off it altogether for a while.

Big guys don't realize how devastating a leg injury is. The big guys never really recover from this because they try to get back into it too fast.

He's been redshirted, and he needs to accept that fact and recover properly. Suiting up this fall is pretty much a guaranteed way for him to end up never really contributing.

If I were someone close to him, I'd be as blunt and rude as I had to be to get him to let that thing heal properly before coming back to soon, and creating a chronic problem.

He's talking like a guy his age always does because he doesn't know, and he hasn't watched about one guy a year do this on our OL or DL for about the last 15 years strainght.

There's always a Jeremy Phillips or Eddie Parker in the mix. Logan has a chance to play if he does this the right way.

It seems that he was going to redshirt anyway so I do not think that the broken leg is the big story here. What really amazes me is the he is a D-I calibar lineman who plays soccer. Wow.

He'll never play more than church league softball.

Valdosta State might accept a tranny but his options are that he already has a full ride at TECH. Fill in the blanks.

He's a med. And he's done.

That is a bit harsh...it will come down to how he handles it mentally when he gets back on the field.

In the meantime....even though he would have redshirted it still hurts him because when you redshirt you still play football 5 days per week...he will be sitting out most of the fall I believe despite what he says.

It took Tuminello two years before he was right, and he didn't even have a break. He just kept banging on the same sprained ankle and it killed his recovery time because he kept trying to come back too soon.

Anoai still has ankle issues that kept him from playing his best, just like Henderson did the year before.

Those were just sprains.

I hope Logan finds a way, for him and for us, but it's tough on the big guys.

What makes a big guy special is when a big guy can be agile. Take away that, and he's just like every other strong big guy. OL's are just as big and strong at places like Wofford or Presbyterian College, but they aren't as quick. Or vice versa - you get the picture

His size and strength aren't what makes him special. It is that plus his mobility.

He needs both, which means he needs to quit talking like Iron Man and plan on being the man in two or three years - not one or two. It's the only way it will heal properly - if ever. Otherwise he'll come back and be half speed for 2 years and finally become a manager who has school paid for, but not counting against the scholarship limit.

I like everything about the kid, including his attitude. It's just that a big guy with a lower body break needs to swallow that and work things the right way. It's that simple.

Kind of doom and gloom aren't you guys? The point that he needs to stay off it and let it heal is correct. He's already going to RS, so he needs to take it easy and give his leg a chance to heal. If he does that he can play down the road.

Didn't mean to be doom and gloom. I meant that he can come back or not come back depending on what he does, and I didn't like his insistence that he would be dressing and practicing by fall.

He can be Daryl Richard or Jeremy Phillips.

Like I said - I love his attitude - just not during a recovery period. I don't think he's done. I just hope he puts himself in a position to play.

Broken bones are nearly always easier to recover from 100% than joint injuries. The biggest risk is losing speed while staying off of it.

hurting a leg is ALWAYS serious, how many guys have come back ALL THE WAY from them?
Grant may not be back from his in hi school injury(not much production for the 15th ranked rb in US)
Newberry never got up to speed
Richard last yr was not the same as his FR yr
Longo is still not playing
so this is not good -our only real interior DL signee last yr

Here's the problem. It shouldn't be left up to him to decide - and I doubt it will. Why even let him practice in full gear? Let him watch, listen, and learn - oh and most importantly - RECOVER. Then, next spring the staff can decide how serious the injury is and what his future at Tech will consist of.

Thank you, a broken bone is not the same as ligament and tendon injuries. The bone either heals or it doesn't. They will know when it is 100%. You cannot compare it to soft tissue injuries, which most of the players being metioned have suffered.
