People on this board and other places are talking like we can just walk all over Duke, that it's a sure win, that we'll win by 30 points. I'm telling you, those Duke players have figured out that they're good and they can win, they have a good passing game, they are tough and well coached, and they are now officially riding a wave into our game next week. I'll be thrilled to beat them by one point. I'm sure PJ will make sure Duke is not underestimated by our Jackets. Should be a great, tense game.
 
Dukes first ACC win in 25 games couldn't have come at a worse time could it? I still think GT wins the game, but Duke is going to be pumped, confident and come into BDS next weekend with a little momentum while GT will be coming off of a bye. I did mention that GT still wins this game didn't I?
 
I agree. I think Duke will be a great game. I'm excited that it isn't a junk game, like usual.

I wouldn't bet on CPJ overlooking them.

I think we'll win, but it won't be easy. I think we'll see that CPJ has his team prepared week in and week out.

I think we still win by 2 touchdowns. Of course it won't be a cake walk. But the bottom line is that we're better than Virginia. Much better.
 
You guys are putting way too much stock into UVA; they are flat out awful.

I don't think we should underestimate them, but we win this game by at least 10 points...easy.

I'm glad Duke is good: (1) It will mean a little something if we do beat them and (2) they present a more legitimate threat to VT, whom we need to lose twice if we want to compete for the ACC title.

But I'm dead serious. There are reminders left and right that every game is a potential loss. Wake and Navy, obviously Ole Miss and UF, the USC debacle Thursday. Beat Duke by one point and I'll be damn proud. ESPNU is getting one hell of a game.

My point exactly. It's good for Duke to get a win, but I don't look at this as their catapult to come in and knock us off. I think maybe their days of 25 ACC losses at a time are over for the moment, but I don't think they're good enough to beat us.

Virginia is an absolute disaster. Which makes me curious, for all the recruiting domination they had supposedly been doing, is this a product of their coaching? What's the story on Snob Avenue?

I don't think we need reminders from anyone else. We've seen it over the course of the last six years. But this is a different story. Neither Navy, Ole Miss or Oregon State are as bad as Virginia or Duke.

I absolutely disagree to the extent you are saying that Duke is "bad." This is an overachieving, tough, excited, well-coached team. They are anything but bad. UVA might be bad, but Duke DESTROYED them. Duke also beat Navy who seems to be giving Wake a headache.
 
UVA had 6 turnovers. They're 3rd string qb had to start the game bcuz their 1st and 2nd string qb were dismissed from the team(well Lalich was but Sewell had grade problems). 3 of UVA's 6 TO's happened deep inside Duke's territory. UVA helped Duke out alot. I think Duke is improved but I still think we'll beat them by at least 3 tds.

I hope you are right. We need our defensive veterans to man up early and dictate the game. If Duke scores a TD early it's going to be a war out there. This is a game that Chan would have lost. I have tremendous faith in PJ to nip any chances of a let-down in the bud.

wake beat ole miss
ole miss beat florida
and florida beat hawaii

so obviously by the transitive property duke is better than florida!

This. And I will point out that Mr. Riley Skinner threw 4 INTs today, fumbled 1 more, and Wake had 6 total TOs. That's the reason that Navy won today. That and Wake has Clemson next weekend. Can you say trap game?
 
Duke has put up points against some god awful defenses and there defense cant stop anyone. UVA couldn't beat the Albemarle county high school team right now. I would not hop on the Puke bandwagon just yet. They wont even have the ball on offense enough to put up points against us. We will beat them by 3 TD or more. Mark it down.

Duke is better, but we don't know if they're good yet. Duke destroyed UVA simply because of 6 turnovers and the fact that UVA didnt' even cover Eron Riley on at least one play. UVA is a terrible team. Don't forget that UVA had more total offense and the score was 3-3 at halftime before you get too excited about Duke. Yes they can beat us. But only if we play badly.

To be clear, I am not saying I think we will lose. If we play at or near our potential we should win and may win convincingly. But I think we need to show up for the kickoff, respect the opponent, and avoid turnovers. Lucky for us, we have a coach that will preach that to the team all week and have plenty of ammo from this past week to use against any risk of a letdown.
 
UVa was -4 in turnovers. If we are -4 in turnovers vs. Duke, we won't lose by 28, but we may lose.
