”Apparently”, Duke was in line to go to the Gasperila bowl but informed the ACC that they were not available for that game (Dec. 20).

Since Duke was in Detroit last year, this made them available for Independence or Heart of Dallas bowl.

And GT to Detroit.

Heart of Dallas took Boston College (vs #25 Boise st) and duke ended up in Independence vs Temple (Collins audition??).

What would have happened if GT advised Detroit that we “weren’t available” on the 26th?

Gasperila ended up with Marshall and South Florida.

They weren't available bc it's the week leading up to finals, whereas we'd be saying we're not available bc it's the week leading up to a holiday.
Their excuse holds more water then ours does.
(I'm speculating here, but that seems to be the likely scenario.)

The response to Duke should have been Gasparilla Bowl, or...

I think every ACC team had the option of declining the Gasparilla if selected, because of the early weekday date. I don't know if we could have opted for Birmingham and sent Wake to Detroit. Probably not.

We got bigger fish to fry now, anyway, I guess.

Well since we've been Dukes personal bitch lately.....any bowl they want I guess
