tonight at 8 pm ET on NBC!

Football is (sort of) back!!!

The rest of their teams are playing, too.

Brooks just pinned it on the 7.

Man, I even missed punting. Although we won't be doing much of that this year...

I only saw Durant's last punt. Put it on the 15.
Not too shabby.

Durant did well. Should be kicking in the NFL somewhere this year. Sorry to hear about Wheeler. Sounds like an arthro deal. ATB!

Shouldnt he be kicking with the Redskins as they drafted him? Pretty sure he signed as well. Did I miss something?

No, money, you didn't miss anything. He was drafted by them, signed a contract, and Frost was pretty much told that Durant, if as advertised, would probably unseat him as the starter.

he still has to make the roster. most contracts in the NFL are not guaranteed (unlike Baseball). that means if he gets cut prior to the season, all he gets is his signing bonus and whatever money in the contract was guaranteed (usually not that much).

Durant is a game changer, it's all about field position. Remember we experienced it for 6 years. He will be somewhere and probably Washington, depending on what the other kicker is making will weigh in on the decision. Good luck to him, he should be around for a while.

I just read an article stating that the coaching staff is viewing Durant as though they would a higher draft pick. They didn't pick him up for depth or to "test" him. They got this kid to be their starter since Frost is marginal at best. The coach went to Frost and bluntly told him that he has not been good enough and that if he doesn't step it up in the preseason, then Durant is getting the starting nod. All indications point to Brooks winning this thing.
