It is completely dumb to play one of the toughest schedules in the country. Next year they should buy out Ole Miss and play UAB; smart programs would do the same. It does the program no good to struggle through these big defeats while we have such a young team transitioning here. As far as I'm concerned dump UGA too, but stick with Clemson as they are in the ACC (although playing them every year is not necessary.)

How can we not notice that the week before COFH, we play a road game against Notre Dame while the dwags play a home game against a local high school. This is pretty much the norm - the SEC helps out their member teams. The ACC has its head up its ass.

I would question the term "rebuilding" and restate it as deconstructing. He isn't rebuilding jack. But Tech should seriously question how they schedule. Not sure why we think we can beat anybody these days. Citadel, NIU, need I say more.

Lose by 24 in Oxford surrounded by hot southern bellies; or lose by 17 to UAB surrounded by 22k pissed off curmudgeons in Bobby Dodd

I know my preference

I don’t think consistent losing seasons will get us better
And we're not going to turn the corner because of a gimme game against a directional literally who. If the coach you hire needs you to schedule cupcakes in order to make you feel like we're making progress, you've hired the wrong coach and your notion of progress needs to be reassessed.

Schedule the best teams you can get, always. Better to be losers than cowards.
Absolutely agree. Progress is a lot easier to measure when playing opponents that are perceived to be better or equal to you. Playing the likes of the so called gimmes and winning serves no purpose anymore in the current CFB landscape, but a loss can certainly derail a season and its fanbase in a hurry.

Exactly. Only a couple of years removed from the Citadel game, I honestly can't believe we're even talking about this.

Nothing we can do about Clemson. Agree that the previous ADs screwed us on scheduling otherwise. But that's the hand we have been dealt. As for COFH, SEC expansion may end it at some point, but we should never be the ones to bow out.
Exactly right - Clemson is our designated Atlantic Division “rival” annual game. Not getting rid of them unless the ACC changes the whole scheduling scheme. I’m sure our rep to the discussions last time was perfectly happy with Clemson selection - a reasonably short road trip when away & easy travel for their fans when in Atlanta, and they weren’t a consistent national power when this was decided.

No doubt, but every school plays cupcakes, like literally every one.

Remember when UGA almost lost to southern, but had to keep scheduling them? Good times
