Thirteen weeks in, the ACC finally got around to acknowledging its leading rusher Monday.

Georgia Tech’s Jonathan Dwyer was named the conference’s offensive player of the week, a honor he shared with North Carolina State quarterback Russell Wilson. The recognition has dodged him while he put together one of the best rushing seasons in Tech history.

“I don’t really pay attention to anything individually,” Dwyer said.

But then the same thing might be said about the ACC. Even though Dwyer has reached 1,184 yards before any back in the conference reached 1,000, and even though the Jackets lead the conference in rushing offense —- 270.8 yards per game, fourth in the nation —- the award is the first to any Tech back this season.

Clemson’s C.J. Spiller, who has run for less than half of Dwyer’s season total, had won the award twice in the previous three weeks. In the meantime, Dwyer had faced three nationally ranked opponents —- Florida State, North Carolina and Miami —- and rambled for 330 yards and five touchdowns.

FAIL. Typical AJC mucking up the stats.

Try 430 yards against 3 ranked teams, on 45 carries. That's a blistering 9.6 yds/carry.

I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt being that 4 and 3 are right next to each other.

Considering most of them are Ugay grads it understandable. 3's and 4's can get confusing.

I'm frankly surprised at this article. Maybe the tide is turning. The AJC is giving us press coverage. Positive press coverage. With a pro-Tech slant.

Between this and Axl finally releasing the new Guns N' Roses album, I expect the end of days to commence very shortly.

Did you miss every one of their columnists professing love for PJ before and throughout the season? The tide started to turn as soon as we hired Paul Johnson and there actually became positive stuff to report.

Yes. A Ugay grad I know makes $32,000 a year there (in his 5th year out of school!), his attention span most hungover mornings is less then stellar I'm sure. On the plus side his Hyundai has all 4 hubcaps.

I really want to know why Diesel got the shaft on this all season, however. The ACC refs and this combine to make me question those morons at the HQ office...
