Egbuniwe and Cooper

Damn. I was counting on Egbuniwe. It would be nice if we had somebody that could make VT pay for double-teaming Morgan. Taylor is going to have all day back there.

I have a solution. Put Josh Nesbitt in on Kick Coverage unit and have him strip the ball out of the hands of the Kick Returner. Problem solved. Defense never steps out on field.

This worries me. Depth on the D-line is not good, hopefully we make adjustments before the second half this week. With 2 real DE's and Tongo I am worried if we start subbing alot. VT has a power run game and if we start getting blown off the ball I hope we let one of the undersized DT's play on the end, we seemed to do this in the second half against FSU along with some 3-4 looks with AT Barnes playing alot.

All seriousness though. I think our defense should go into so strip mode the enitire game. The first guy makes the first hit and the second guy in tries to rip the ball away every play. I am not being sarcastic. This is actually a technique taught by many coaches in a case where the defense is horrible. Also late in the game if way behind. If we could force just one turn over from this we can win. If we do this the whole game we can force two.

I think since it is a given that the opposing offense will score on every possession that our new defensive technique should be to sell out and try to force a turnover or sack the quarterback.

Stripping the ball is far too logical for Wommack.

We will not stop the running game. Gotta force fumbles!!!

Teams that are really undersized or bad really try to strip the ball more than other teams. A team like Navy, the only chance they have to beat elite teams is to score every possession and get turnovers. Well fellas, we resemble Navy very much so right now. Score every possession, but the other team will score every time as well. Gotta do what it takes to get the ball back

Um. What does Egbuniwe have, meningitis? This is two weeks due to illness. It must be a really serious disease for an athlete to be out because of illness for two straight weeks.

If you assume JC Lanier would have been in the rotation...that is 5 defensive players out for the second game in a row.

Lanier, Jackson, Hall, Taylor, and Egbuniwe

No one on the two deep for offense is out again this week.

respiratory infection

You're kidding right? Like pneumonia?

I have never known an individual in all my time on earth to have a basic respiratory infection that keeps them out for 2 weeks. Much less an athlete.

I would like to see if someone can give out more info on this. Something isn't right here. DEMS???

Cone?

The only thing I could think of is he had H1N1 and they are keeping him under quarantine. A respiratory infection sounds like a week at the most.
