Email

Dear Mr. Refrigeratormover (may I call you "mover"? - it somehow intrigues ArchiTECH).

ArchiTECH wrote Uncle Dan also. Here is ArchiTECH's letter. Of course the "no good deed..." quote did not accompany the email - although the irony doesn't escape ArchiTECH:

love,
ArchiTECH

Dan,
I'm sure you're getting a lot of mail now, and I hesitate to add to your burden. But, as a Tech graduate and long time Tech supporter (including season ticket holder) I feel I must write this note. I don't write notes of this type, but this situation is so urgent that I feel I must speak out.

I hope you will replace coach Gailey with someone who has a passion for the college game of football and who appreciates the very special character of Tech. I'm afraid Tech supporters feel the GTAA is going to accept our current situation of winning a modest number of games every season and going to a third-tier bowl. I believe we are better than that and I hope you believe so, too. If you do, I believe you will replace coach Gailey.

Sometimes you have to take a risk in order to improve a situation. We don't settle for mediocrity in our academics at Tech, so please don't settle for mediocrity in our sports. We have a past that is outstanding. A bold decision by you can make that past relevant again. Please don't be afraid of the change. I will be awaiting your decision before purchasing tickets again and although I can't speak for everyone at Bobby Dodd, I can assure you those sitting around me are doing the same.

I hope you will take this opportunity to display the kind of leadership we so desperately need. There is so much conversation about how you will leave the problem to the next A.D. since you will be returning to LSU. Even if you are returning to LSU, please do the right thing by my beloved school and replace coach Gailey. We need a change to have a chance.

I apologize if my tone sounds harsh. This needs to be done quickly and I trust you will act accordingly. The Tech nation will stand with you on the decision.

I don't know how quickly he will respond this time. I'm sure it will be flooded yet again. It may be automated this time but I wouldn't worry if the message is getting across.

demjackets,

Are we waiting on the bowl invitation before making an announcement? Or is he coming back? I have to believe that D-Rad already knew what he was going to do if we lost.

ArchiTech, wouldn't the risky and bold decision in this case actually be announcing that CCG will be returning next season?

I don't think we are waiting for anything. After Dan feels the time is right he will make the decision. Either way staying or going he has to come out with an announcement. There will be a few meetings the next few days, I don't think it will take much longer.

Dear Ms. Clapper (absolutely LOVE the name - you go girl).

Maybe, but in either case we are about to see what Mr. Rad is made of.

Many people were rude to ArchiTECH yesterday at the football game(sic) and that alone is reason to fire someone.

love,
ArchiTECH

Do you get the feeling it is a done decision or is he still evaluating.

Considering everything involved, I believe that he is watching all activity and will not move without a replacement in hand. If Jimbo was to fall as a domino into the LSU job, then our certain fallback would be gone.

All of our candidates have been mentioned for higher profile (higher pay) gigs except possibly Edsall. If Edsall is not the guy, we will get the picked over last choice. DRad may not want to take a four million Chan severance hit for that.

This situation needs much more analysis. Thanks for your insight.

Talking about Drad going to LSU I spoke with a good friend about the situation and he made me aware that Drad was at the bama/lsu game in bamas box. pretty reliable source, i wonder if he wants to get back with saban.

I think he already has all your concerns you listed figured out. He wont be caught looking, fair enough?

Is there anybody on the bama staff that he would consider????????? Maybe he was out there fishing seeing if anybody would bite....

I don't know where you would put him but just bring him back.

If and when a decision is made with Chan, I would like to see a coach in here right away. I like Jon but we don't need a 30 day trial period. If Jon doesn't get it I hope he stays.

I agree that quick replacement is important.

If we go with Jon I'd rather see a 1 or 2 year trial period, not a 30 day one.

all the talk about recruiting and how good some are, but geoff collins was pretty much instrumental in last years class....wouldnt have done it without him from those i speak with
