guys, after talking to folks in the AA, the general sentiment is we go to Emerald bowl even if we DO beat UGA. Just the way it is. Music City most likely is taking FSU probably no matter what.

a remote possibility is Charlotte; but with Wake available there is just no chance there really.

Another possibility is turning down the emerald bowl in hopes for a trade or another at large bowl. This is a risk as if we turn it down and don't have any other option solid we may not go bowling. And yes, we will lose money going to this bowl again.

But right now...get used to the emerald bowl. IT just is what it is.

The bowl committees look at bowl ticket sales year over year and ours isn't as impressive as FSUs. They don't consider ACCCG's or other events....

Anyway just an FYI; obviously I hope this doesn't happen...but it looks like that is what will occur.

If we beat UGA, I don't care what bowl we go to. We could go to Fairbanks, AK for all I care.

I will say that the Bowl Committee in Charlotte and Nashville would be stupid not to take GT coming off a win over UGA. We will travel after beating the dogs especially to Nashville against another SEC team, but the Bowls and their committees are stupid.

Alright, the Charlotte bowl committee officially contains the dumbest people on earth if they take Wake over Tech after a UGA win. Tech would bring more people and stay in more hotels in that scenario, period. If that happens, I would doubt the bowl committee were serving their clients (the stadium, the surrounding hotels) as much as their own personal allegiances.

alabama hurt us

the Bama loss hurt us big-time but a GT win over Ugag will likely keep them in Nashville or better. As I posted last night, clemson losing to USC would actually help our cause as the champs would then take us or FSU. Nashville is not taking wake. the only team they take over Gt is FSU. And FSU won't play Bama in a bowl.

We need to win for sure or it's the Emeral; I agree with that assessment. Bama's loss hurt us more than them....

Do people really care about bowls, when it's the nut cracker bowl? Seriously... I care but... Not as much as Ugay or Clemson

Obviously you can believe what you want, but the prevailing sentiment is we are going to the emerald bowl EVEN IF we beat uga. Period. I Am just relaying the message...Music will take FSU. THAT is the sentiment in the AA. Now, you can positively continue to think Music will take us if we beat UGA...thats GREAT and THATs what I hope too, but the folks closer connected don't feel that way right now. The folks that live it.

There still is a big weekend of football left to pan everything out...but expect the emerald bowl either way. Sorry man.

Man I am so pumped! The Nut Bowl! What an honor!

Cant think of a better way to end the Gailey era then another trip to da good olé Nut Bowl!:puke:

I know a guy on the committe for the Music City Bowl. they have eye'd GT for two months. They specifically wanted a GT-Bama matchup.

Unfortunately, we prob won't know where we'll go because I have a hard time seeing us beating Ugag but if we did, there would be a bowl that would love to have us inclduign the Music City. A GT win and a FSU loss makes GT much more attractive to most any bowl.

GT is still a strong possibility for Nashville. FSU is the ONLY team they will take over us.

If we go back to the land of fruits and nuts we'd better bring the PROPER CLEATS so that we can stand up this time...

Agreed, but again, maybe the folks at the AA are being negative about this....just saying their expectation is Emerald bowl.

In case you haven't been paying attention...the bowl is far improved now as they have locked in the Pac-10 #4 pick. No more WAC. We could play UCLA, Oregon State, Arizona (Stoops), or California.

The field does stink though...I'll give you that.

Agreed.

For those that claim these "bowl games" are a just reward for the players, why would you not want them to have a nice trip to a great city to play a good team from the Pac 10?

Does anyone believe the players would prefer a trip to Nashville 3.5 hours away, to play in a meaningless exhibition game against one of the also rans in the sec? (The exception of players wanting parents and girlfriends at game is noted, but I haven't seen that argument from those defending the streak of toilet bowls)

Or, is it that the primary concern for the game is to have it close enough to drive to and get home without spending a load of money?

Either way, the only game of significance the players and fans have left happens this Saturday.

Emarald had FSU last year.....2 once-proud programs (FSU & GT) now fighting for a bowl in BEAUTIFUL San Francisco.......(snicker, snicker)

Chan will be immediately fired if we go to the Emerald Bowl again.

For me the issue isn't the opponent....ITS WHERE The bowl is making it unaccessible for ACC schools; and its the fact WE will lose money no matter what on this bowl trip.

I understand the AA thinking Nashville will take FSU over us, but they can't do that if FSU isn't there, which could happen if Clemson loses to USC(e) or if FSU beats Fla. I think if either of those happen, FSU would go to Orlando and Charlotte would jump on Clemson:

OB: VT/BC winner
PB: VT/BC Loser or UVA
GB: UVA or VT/BC Loser
Champs: FSU
Charlotte: Clemson
Nashville: GT
Emerald: WF
Boise: MD/NCST winner

Wake to charlotte is near a lock IMO as that bowl said they will cater to NC schools first. So already your scenario won't play out IMO. But if they do take clemson, and fsu does go to champs...then yes we would go to music.

I think this
Champs: FSU or Clemson not matter what happens with USC and UF
Charlotte: Wake
Nashville: FSU, Clemson or GT. Frankly based on fanbase perception fsu or clemson wins.
Emerald: GT
