After watching the replay of the UGA game several times, I noticed that in the last minute of the game after Tech got the 1st down to seal it...none of the players went over to CPJ...not even after the final kneel down. Nobody came up to him to celebrate, congratulate, or anything of that nature. CPJ did do his fist pumps and pointing gestures, but nothing other than that. Now, I wasn't looking for a Gatorade shower, but this is a guy that just beat UGA in his first attempt with a program that was in a 7 year drought...I expected to see some sort of interaction with players. I will say that CBS was VERY quick to switch to the Bama game, so there may have been a lot that was missed....locker room perhaps?
I've read player comments about how they really want to play hard for Coach Johnson...I think Dwyer was quoted "I would run through a wall for him". MJ mentioned how coach jokes around a lot with the players at practice, but can get intense when needed. There's no doubt they respect him and that he gets maximum effort from all of his players. He is a no-nonsense guy and that if you aren't giving that effort, he'll get in your face and yank you out in a heartbeat...or not play you, period.
Having said that, I still wonder why nobody (players) was around him or approaching him after the game. Maybe that's CPJ's style and the way they do business.
Anyone notice this?
