DirecTV is the latest distributor that has decided to carry ACC Network at its Aug. 22 launch... ACC Network previously signed launch deals with Altice, Verizon and Hulu TV. ESPN will depend on Hulu's and DirecTV’s national footprints as they negotiate with other distributors, including Comcast, Charter, Dish Network and AT&T U-Verse.

ESPN is launching an ad campaign around the net today to coincide with the start of the ACC men’s basketball tournament. The campaign is called “We Do This,” and shows an inside look at each of the conference’s schools and their traditions. The spots will run across ESPN platforms and on local channels in ACC markets. ACC schools will be able to customize the spots...

No official word yet on how much money the new channel will generate. One thing's for sure: whatever the per subscriber rate ends up being, it will be multiplied by a very big number!

Thank Goodness. Now Directv needs add PAC12 network. They've been squabbling with them since PAC12 network was created.

I've been Directv customer for 21 years. It's still a great product but customer service took a major hit when AT&T bought them.

Are there any links to request our cable providers add the ACCN?

I'm currently with AT&T and the ACCN is worth switching providers.

Are there still people out there using those giant satellite dishes from 30 years ago? We had one when I was a kid growing up on the farm... and, man, they were a major pain to use.

My former father in law used to have the giant satellite dish during the 1980's. He ordered a box from the back of Soldier of Fortune magazine, he was a Vietnam Vet, that got him every channel available. And yes, plenty of free 80's porn. Every so often, it would get shut down. You just ordered a new card for the box

One more tidbit to squeeze out of the ESPN/ACCN Frequently-asked questions (FAQ)...

    ACC NETWORK AVAILABILITY
"ESPN is working hard to ensure that ACCN will be broadly available via pay TV video providers across the country."

Carriage agreements are already in place with the following [national] providers:
    • DIRECTV
    • Google Fiber
    • Hulu Live TV
    • Layer3 TV
    • Optimum (aka Altice)
    • PlayStation Vue
    • Suddenlink
    • Verizon Fios
This list alone virtually guarantees that anyone who wants the ACCN can get it if he is willing to switch carriers...

...but you may not have to if you live somewhere served by one of these small, local providers...

Agreements are also in place with the following [local] providers:
    • Adaptive Media
    • Amarillo Wireless
    • Americas Center Corporation
    • Ashland Home Net
    • BEK Communications Cooperative
    • Brookings Municipal Utilities
    • Cable Systems of Nevada
    • Camellia Communications
    • Central Arkansas Telephone Co-op
    • Cherokee Telephone
    • Clarksville Department of Energy
    • Colorado Community Fiber
    • CTI Fiber
    • Delcambre Telephone
    • ESCO Technologies

    • PTC Communications
    • RaceTV
    • Randolph
    • RTC Communications
    • Rural Burleigh Cable
    • Salsgiver Communications
    • Siren Communications
    • Southern Fibernet
    • Southern Montana Telephone
    • Spruce Knobs Seneca Rocks Telephone
    • SPTC Telcom
    • Sunset Digital Communications
    • Ting Fiber
    • Topsham Communications
    • Trenton Telephone Company

    • West Carolina Communications
    • WestPAnet
    • Wheat State Technologies
    • Whidbey Telecom
    • Yadkin Telecom
    • Yucca Telecom

BOTTOM LINE: There are still some "big fish to fry", but this is already a fairly impressive list - and there are still 5 months to go before launch!

Can I assume it can be streamed on ESPN? I imagine Sling will add it to their menu.

I heard that ESPN moved Paul Finebaum from the SECN to the ACCN, to coincide with his new book, "My New Conference is Better (and Smarter) Than Your Old One." Finebaum will be replaced on the SECN by award winning Larry Munson impersonator Melvin Snibbish of Athens, who got the job based on his audition tape. When asked how he would have described the end of the Clemson rout of Alabama in the National Championship game, Snibbish, in a perfect imitation of Munson's voice, cried out, "Oh, my, I can see the Silver Medals falling from the sky! What a goal line stand, forcing Clemson to take a knee on the game's last play. They just didn't want to take another hit from that big, strong heavy SEC defense."

Back in the days of conference expansion, all the talk was about extending the regional and media footprint. I guess we are seeing the fruit of that effort now. I don't know if ESPN could have gotten a deal with all the TV providers for a tobacco road conference. A couple recent national champions in football probably helps too.
