pretty good article, better than anything that has come out of the AJC lately...

The 'piece'

is written by ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach, who was writting for the AJC 2 yrs ago. This is a pretty good article by young Mr Schlabach.
Coach Johnson admits he won't be able to get 25 recruits this yr. The FOCers of the past few seasons used the 'not a full class of recruits' as a crutch for Coach Gailey. I don't think it hampers the good coaches & I sure don't believe it'll bother Coach J. If you can bring in pretty good walk-ons you'll be just fine. Besides, even at the large schools, there's lots of 'suspensions' (1 gm to 1 full season), academic shortfalls, transfers & injuries that are pitfalls to having a full complement of 85 scholarship players game planning & participating in games.

He was too busy bashing the AJC to provide actual value in his post. You have to get your priorities straight, Kyle.

or maybe he thought that you would be smart enough to be able to find your way to SI on your own, without needing an exact link for instant gratification. for example, what if he read it in the magazine, you know Sports Illustrated? from his post, it is not clear that it even is an internet article

you guys need to relax a little, plus the AJC does suck, no matter whether we complain or not

I can't be any happier about Paul Johnson!!!!! He does not dodge questions and he isnt scared to say something that might upset someone! He knows what works and he beleives in it with all his heart. Thats a guy you want to play for! Dec. 7 will be remembered forever in GT sports history mark my words.

All the haters of the TO will be sing a different tune come about week 5 of the season.

I did try to find it myself, it was nowhere on the front page of espn.com. I did eventually find it, but it would've been nice to have a link in the post. I imagine you would have had trouble finding it, whether you went to SI the magazine or to SI the website, so a link clearly would've been beneficial. More beneficial, at least, than a pointless rip on the AJC which really didn't have any relevance to the matter at hand and didn't bother to mention that the article was written by someone who spent nine years at the AJC and is often ripped on this board.

AJC Sucks

i'm sorry for saying such a blasphemous couple of words about the AJC. it is a good paper...if you arent wanting to read news about GT. if you feel differently, thats fine because you have a right to do so, but the series of articles that came out during the time of the UGA game/CG's firing left a very bad taste in my mouth. the writers are very biased (keeping in line with themajority of the state) and i prefer to read my news elsewhere, which was the original point of this thread.

Please note the current poll they have on the Tech section. Quite the textbook example of an AJC spin on Tech sports. For those who haven't seen it:

Which will happen first?
1) Tech will beat UNC in basketball?
2) Tech will beat UGA in football?
.
.
.
x) AJC will be positive about Tech sports?

"Does that guarantee we're going to be really good at Georgia Tech? I don't know, that's why they play the games. But I know this system will work."

i'm liken' him

This was the only real new piece of info in the article:

Coach Johnson admits he won't be able to get 25 recruits this yr.

But what I like about his comments, was that he said he didn't want to "take people just to take them" - e.g. he thinks he can use those extra slots next year. And I think he's right. I bet we get a who's who of high school option football in next year's recruiting class.

C'mon, even that's not true. The AJC is a rag. I think even most Dawg fans dislike it, if only because it's not written phonetically.

The AJC is renowned nationwide for being a wretched paper, subject to vastly irresponsible journalistic practice.

Big surprise, it's full of UGA grads.
