“(ESPN) had come back and said that in some of the other instances where (conference) networks have started, they lost considerable amounts of money in the first couple of years,” Peterson said. “What they’d like to do is delay the start for a couple years and do the necessary preparation.”

Looks like ESPN's infinite money machine is starting to catch up to them. They've already had to start laying folks off. Maybe the bubble is soon to pop.

And then there is this:
I’ll say this. Several admins at ACC schools are worried that the Power 5 is really a Power 4 and they’re on the outside. This is a big deal

luckily Foxsports is in the game.....If not we would be making .50 on the dollar.

But ESPN's $$$ is drying up. The NFL channel has locked up much of the NFL content and has FAR superior NFL analysis.

with ESPN3 I don't really care about the "acc channel"

Also basketball will always keep the ACC at the table.

I feel like none of this Power 4(5) talk is going to matter in a few more years. The day is coming when the NCAA gets upended FIFA-style, whether by investigation or by a court ruling that players are indentured servants without pay. The bloodbath to follow will tear up conference boundaries and revenue streams anyway.

If not, the ACC has pocket aces in Notre Dame.

The ACC is looking like the odd man out on future TV revenues thanks to Swofford's approach to conference expansion. With our footprint there is a huge opportunity, but I worry about the long-term viability of the program. If we could bundle FSU, Clemson, GT, and PITT/VT into the Big XII I would be for it.

It's good that we have multiple threads on this to make sure the word gets out.

My understanding is that the little girl's approach is still that he's got no interest in expanding unless someone else forces his hand, is that still correct?

ESPN really killed the goose that laid the golden eggs. When they kept forcing various Ocho channels along with ESPN and ESPN2, they had to see that cable companies would start offering non-ESPN channel plans.

You want to play a bunch of dust bowl schools!?

Gross.

Swofford keeping his son employed is one of the problems. Raycom sucks donkey balls.

"In exchange for a later start date, ESPN could make additional payments on top of the rights fees already paid to the conference, Peterson said."

Any chance that this would be $4M to 6M per school?? IF so this would not be so ba in delaying the ACC Network...
