it interesting to see the confidence that these fans exude about their D can stop our option.

If Nesbitt is 90% and does not turn it over then we will win this game by 14pts.

I think Jaybo could win this game but CPJ will have to be creative to put Jaybo in a situation where he can succeed. I expect to see some different wrinkles if JN cannot go.

I also think that if Nesbitt can go nearly full speed, we'll have this game in hand before the end of the third quarter. Carolina is not a bad team, but I'm thinking that this win gives us the momentum to be the one ACC team that doesn't continue to win and lose against all the wrong teams.

I've posted about this before as well.

It seems that every fan of teams we play think that

1) Their defense is too fast for the option to work
2) Our offense is one dimensional they will just sellout to the run
3) Our offense consists of a couple running plays and once in a while pass it to "that one guy"(BeBe)
4) They stopped an option team once in 1989 so we will be no problem(Miami)

do keep in mind that UNC and UGA get something no other team on our schedule has had...2 weeks to do nothing but learn our offense.

Yep. That does stink. And I don't guess UGA won't be faced with the temptation of trying to sneak in some SEC CG prep during the off week this year! :laugher:

That still goes both ways. It can either help you prepare or slow your momentum and make you rusty.

We'll have our chance to prove that it doesn't matter how or how long you prepare, we're still going to shove it down your throats.

The one thing we really have going for us vs UNC is that the strength of their defense is their secondary, and in generating interceptions. We can avoid their strength simply by not passing. Most teams don't have that opportunity.

That said, I don't like our chances unless we get Nesbitt back. UNC is very good, and they've whooped some teams that we've struggled with. (BC)

Agreed. Actually Heather Dinich posted something earlier in the year about this being UNC strength. She said UNC's defense lives off of INT's. I was thinking a few months ago that when they played GT it wouldn't be a problem because we don't pass much anyways, and the only time we usually do pass it is a play action when someone is wide open. I don't see how UNC's Dline will match up, I haven't seen them play this year. It will be a tough game....WE HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR THOSE SLANT ROUTES.

As CPJ has said, this offense has been around for decades, coaches have seen it before, and they still can't stop it. So how is 2 weeks going to help more than 1 if it's been around for years and years?

Hopefully, their scout team is horrible at running the option. Let them come into the game with a false sense of security. More practice is good, unless it is reinforcing bad habits (like the bizarre FSU defensive formation).
