I am thrilled after todays game. If we still had Hollings, Gathers, Manget, etc and played the way we did I would be much more concerned.
We have to remember that these are kids that play with a lot of emotion. This can be good or bad...and they chose to overcome a lot of bad luck. Congrats to the coaches for keeping them focused as well...again...very tough to do with kids this age.
The young backs will only get better and will pop the holes quicker with experience and more confidence. Ace did a fantastic job...and I hate to bring it up...but they did not put the ball on the turf!!!
The secondary had trouble in the middle of the field (Collins had a tough day)...but the fact is they only gave up 13 pts. (10 real points)...and they have the athletes to make big plays to overcome the ones they do not execute on. Big plays win games. A good example is the long UNC pass to the TE...and Houston catches up with him to strip the ball and get it back. That is the difference in having good athletes.
I am extremely proud of the entire team...proud that the OL had their best game yet...proud of Watkins and Glover taking leadership roles...and proud of Suggs coming back in the 2nd half to play much stronger.
Again...with all that has happened to us this year...every win is a big one at this point.
Go Jackets!!!
