Extension for Coach Gailey

That is absolutely disgusting.:puke: Even if GT decides to get a new coach, this one will drain some serious contributions from our long term success.

so, if he keeps on going to places such as the Smurf Bowl and the Frisco nut Bowl and he'll keep getting extensions? :eek5:

According to his contract:

8. In the event that the team and COACH participate in a post-season bowl game in either of the first two seasons of this Contract, then the term of this Contract and all payments due hereunder shall be extended up to and including December 31, 2011 ("the extension bonus")

No, it was a one-time bonus - and he had two years to accomplish it.

That record is lousy from start to finish. It would take us 19 years of wins just to even it out. There are only two streaks of 5 or more wins (on our side that is) and none after 1956.

How many bowls did Suitcase Curry take us to? Bobby Ross, the best coach Tech ever had, took us to 2 bowls in 5 years. Were either of them major bowls? Did we have 2 losing seasons in those 5 years? I don't remember.

This is actually just giving him a full 5 year extension. We extended last year for 5, meaning this year plus 4 new years (this year is on the old contract). Per the clause cited above this is how he got his 5th year on the new contract. I don't believe there is any further automatic extension.

Ah, but it is a 6th year. The contract without the extension runs to 2010 (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010). Add the extension year and the contract runs to 2011.

That's what I said. He was already under contract for 2006 from his original deal. They extended it 4 (through 2010) and this clause was his way of getting it to 5. They just restarted the clock this year on the new contract document, but he only got 4 guaranteed after this.
