F$U thread on Bowden...

I went to an FSU game in the early 70's during one of their pre-Bowden 0-11 or whatever seasons. They were hosting Auburn and the FSU stadium was less than half full with most being Tiger fans. Many fans do not appreciate legends untill they are gone. How many schools would love to have one Bobby Bowden, or Bear Bryant, or a Bobby Dodd? I hope I never get so jaded to want a coach like Bobby Bowden fired. I am not a Bowden fan, but I wish we had hired him after Fulcher quit.

I certainly understand what you are saying but I also see the validity of wanting to get rid of a guy that has not realized that he is past his prime and is only hurting the program by sticking around (ex: JoePa and Bowden), you have to draw the line somewhere, this is where a good AD comes into play, some draw it too early (ex: Nebraska with Zolich) and others too late (ex: Miami with Cocker), the AD's discretion is vital.

Who's to say he is hurting the program? He gets the recruits. His offensive coordinators haven't worked out since richt left. It is just a cycle of having to find the right fit, which is not short.

Well put oldgoldandwhite, well put!

I think in a perfect world, Bobby and JoePa would end this season tied with the most wins and the presidents of both schools would agree together to move on.

Otherwise, I have to agree that certain folks get a permanent pass for as long as they are still aware of their surroundings. Besides I want him around so we can kick his butt next year.

If you think that JoePa is hurting PSU then you are a goober. Post the same thing after PSU hands the fighting tree-nuts a loss this weekend.

The interesting thing to me about JoePa is how his team plays so much worse on the road than at home. He's stomped every opponent he's played at home, including Wisconsin, while he's lost to Michigan and Illinois and barely beat Indiana on the road. I wonder if he's having trouble motivating his kids without 100,000+ people dressed in white.

I am just an outside observer. Both guys are as old as dirt and both's records have drastically gotten worse since they were in their 70's.

i loved my preacher, my doctor, my dentist, etc but I wasn't going to keep going to them at some point in their lives. BB is hurting his own legacy.
