Florida State's backup argument is that even if wins should be stripped from the school's record, the individual records of innocent coaches and athletes should not be docked. Under that scenario, Florida State would still lose its 1997 national championship in track and field and the football team would lose victories,k but Bowden would not.

I guess the fighting for the school argument is being sidelined. It is so UNFAIR to hold the HEAD COACH responsible :laugher:

what's next are you going to blame the captain of the Valdez for that oil? (who was not at the helm)

That's actually a novel approach to the situation. The NCAA can take away wins from the school, but I'm not sure that they can do anything about what Bowden or others say about his personal record.

I'm still personally in favor of the NCAA giving the wins back, if FSU gives up a scholarship per win.

the HEAD COACH is always responsible. You are not innocent b/c you stick your head in the sand.

It is called the "captain of the ship" doctrine which means quite literally if you are the captain then you take the hit. The valdez captain was not at the helm when it crashed and spewed oil all over alaska.

That is why the HC get 2.5mil
