That was a really good looking uniform they had. The red helmets with the black falcon on it stood out. The red jerseys were much nicer, also. The red helmet, silver pants & red jersey (or white with red numbers) presented one of the better uniforms in the NFL.

wait a minute...
red jersey
red helmet
silver pants

Apart from the unfortunate choice of team colors (red & black, go figure) I also liked the red jersey/red helmet combo. When Glanville and Co. first unveiled the all black look I thought that was cool, too, but it's gotten old.

It was bound to happen. Have you seen all of the red jerseys being worn at the Falcons games? The one thing that bothers me is that when you have a disappointing season, (as this one is thus far) you must either have a gimmick (uni change) or personnel change (Dan) to draw fans next season. I just hope that the changes don't stop with the threads.

belly is right. Colors were chosen due to UGA loyalties so that was the Smith's color of choice. Can't we come up with something else, please?

To Hell with Red Falcons Helmets and Jerseys. Like the black look much better. The just need to win...

The Falcons are red and black because the Smiths were UGAGers. The AJC ran a contest to name the new team and since it was the mid-60s, "Rebels" got a lot of votes . One ecumenical fan suggested "Bulljackets". Probably Pete Rozelle had already decided on the colorless, they-could-be-from-anywhere "Falcons".

I like those old red helmets too, and the red jerseys.

Speaking of Smith family & UGA, heard this a.m. that the "family" is donating/has donated $3.5M toward some building dedicated to development of SA's, i.e. tutoring, etc.

Amen... the Falcons might as well have been designed as the UGA East Professional Football Club. I think the black looks SO much better. It's just hard to cheer for a team who is clad in that much red. (Speaking of which, did anyone see the red in the stands at the Angel's game yesterday? Holy cow!!)
