Falcons rumor

is they may take a look at Sylvester Croom, that would probably be a good hire.

An average coach with a sub-.500 record coaching in a great league. Sounds like the characteristics of every Falcons coach in franchise history (with the exception of Leeman Bennett and his blistering 46-41 record).

I kinda agree with what Chernoff was saying yesterday... the Falcons need someone with a reputation. Taking a chance on another college coach or pro coordinator might be a disaster. If not for those reasons, id say Singletary would be a no-brainer.

When he took over at Miss St it was a complete rebuilding process, they could not have defeated anyone in the SEC

He's a good X's and O's man, he's damn tough, and he's an adult. He's played and coached in the NFL. I think he'd be a great hire for them... but not right now.

At this moment, the Falcons are, quite possibly, the most dysfunctional professional team in any sport.

They need to hire a "name" right now to (a) restore some credibility to the franchise, and (b) restore some order to the locker room, (c) give the players some confidence in the organization, and (d) give the fans some semblance of hope that it is even possible for things to get better.

I believe CSC could do all of the above but I think the players and fans would view the hire as another risky move. Perception above reality? Maybe, but you know what they say about perception.

Mr. Blank needs to slap leather, sweet talk, or do whatever it takes to get a big name into coming to Flowery Branch. After that he needs to burn the team to the ground and start over again.

Here's my plan:

(1) Fire Rich McKay - totally inept. Even though petrino is a total scumbag I blame McKay for this mess. He made, or at least allowed, his boss to look bad - fatal error.
(2) Get Dan Reeves to help with the coaching search. Like him or not, he's a damn great football man and he likes the Falcons even after they fired him.
(3) Hire a coach - I vote for Cowher or Schottenheimer for all the reasons I stated above.
(4) Draft Darren McFadden - he immediately, along with the coach hired in (1) becomes the face of the organization.
(5) Buy an offensive line. It's easier to buy one than grow one.
(6) Keep ticket prices the same (or cut them even) as a token of goodwill.

Agree with most except, I would hire Singletary. He would instantly have the respect of everyone. The only coach I would go for, except Singletary is Cowher, but I don't think he will come to us. I would also let McKay stay for one more season. I think he deserves that.

1) I don't know enough to agree here. What incentive is there for a better GM to take over now if you fire McKay?
2) Can't disagree
3) Cowher won't come here for any amount of money and power. (But if he does, keep McKay but give Cowher a strong hand in personnel decisions). I think Singletary, Schottenheimer and Gailey deserve strong looks as well - they all should provide credibility and stability.
4) and 5) Yes. Look at Minnesota - this is how they are rebuilding. Adrian Peterson and a solid Oline centered around Hutchison (high $ FA from Seattle) and draft picks. Can anyone on this boad (that is not a total fantasy geek or Viking fan) name Minnesota's starting QB?
6) Prices have increased with expectations. Expectations will be down next season...

Arthur is considering to be in the process of changing the team colors to HD Orange.

Biggest mistake ever by the Atlanta and the Faclons, 'When Rankin Smith Sr. stated he would move the team to Jacksonville FL if he did not get a dome stadium. We should have given Rankin a map to FL.' We got a Dome stadium and got stuck keeping the Falcons.

Good example. The lines are where you spend the money, and this offense won't do anything without a solid o-line.

Tavares Jackson (neither a fantasy football geek nor a Vikings fan)

Fan of another team in the "Black & Blue" division?

I do like the way the Vikings are building. Very good defensive line (especially the Williams' guys on the interior), strong Oline (many thought they overpaid for Hutchinson - Seattle wouldn't match their offer), and a do-it-all running back (McFadden is even more versatile than AP).

There's no high draft pick (or high $ FA) QB. I think, if the Falcons are lucky enough to draft McFadden, they can get a decent QB with one of their 2nd round picks. It's a good, deep draft for QB potential but I don't think there are any "sure-thing" top 5 pick QBs.

Minnesota's starting QB is a young, relatively think black guy....hmmmm....I know his name just had it on the tip of my tongue....weired odd name, sounds more like a Wesminster or Lovetter guy to me....I've never done fantasy football....I give up.

Agree draft McFadden, that's a no brainer. He's a better college RB than Peterson was IMO.

Well he is Black. That seems to be a qualifier in the BIG ATL. I also happen to think he's a good man but the COLOR thing has totally lost me.

Oh yeah, back to the original topic. Croom has 0%, zero%, nada, no, zilch chance of being the head coach of the Falcons. They'll be hiring someone with either headcoaching experience in the NFL or a lifelong NFL assistant.

I think most of the ticket prices were cut when Blank first took over. If I remember correctly, the cheapest season ticket packages were reduced to $100.

That's correct. I took advantage of the $100 season ticket deal. I think most seats in the Dome were reduced except for the club seats when Arthur took over.
