is they may take a look at Sylvester Croom, that would probably be a good hire.
When he took over at Miss St it was a complete rebuilding process, they could not have defeated anyone in the SECAn average coach with a sub-.500 record coaching in a great league. Sounds like the characteristics of every Falcons coach in franchise history (with the exception of Leeman Bennett and his blistering 46-41 record).
He's a good X's and O's man, he's damn tough, and he's an adult. He's played and coached in the NFL. I think he'd be a great hire for them... but not right now.
At this moment, the Falcons are, quite possibly, the most dysfunctional professional team in any sport.
They need to hire a "name" right now to (a) restore some credibility to the franchise, and (b) restore some order to the locker room, (c) give the players some confidence in the organization, and (d) give the fans some semblance of hope that it is even possible for things to get better.
I believe CSC could do all of the above but I think the players and fans would view the hire as another risky move. Perception above reality? Maybe, but you know what they say about perception.
Mr. Blank needs to slap leather, sweet talk, or do whatever it takes to get a big name into coming to Flowery Branch. After that he needs to burn the team to the ground and start over again.
Here's my plan:
(1) Fire Rich McKay - totally inept. Even though petrino is a total scumbag I blame McKay for this mess. He made, or at least allowed, his boss to look bad - fatal error.
(2) Get Dan Reeves to help with the coaching search. Like him or not, he's a damn great football man and he likes the Falcons even after they fired him.
(3) Hire a coach - I vote for Cowher or Schottenheimer for all the reasons I stated above.
(4) Draft Darren McFadden - he immediately, along with the coach hired in (1) becomes the face of the organization.
(5) Buy an offensive line. It's easier to buy one than grow one.
(6) Keep ticket prices the same (or cut them even) as a token of goodwill.

4) and 5) Yes. Look at Minnesota - this is how they are rebuilding. Adrian Peterson and a solid Oline centered around Hutchison (high $ FA from Seattle) and draft picks. Can anyone on this boad (that is not a total fantasy geek or Viking fan) name Minnesota's starting QB?
Tavares Jackson (neither a fantasy football geek nor a Vikings fan)
1) I don't know enough to agree here. What incentive is there for a better GM to take over now if you fire McKay?
2) Can't disagree
3) Cowher won't come here for any amount of money and power. (But if he does, keep McKay but give Cowher a strong hand in personnel decisions). I think Singletary, Schottenheimer and Gailey deserve strong looks as well - they all should provide credibility and stability.

6) Prices have increased with expectations. Expectations will be down next season...
Well he is Black. That seems to be a qualifier in the BIG ATL. I also happen to think he's a good man but the COLOR thing has totally lost me.is they may take a look at Sylvester Croom, that would probably be a good hire.
Does anyone know if #6 has ever happened? Just curious.
I think most of the ticket prices were cut when Blank first took over. If I remember correctly, the cheapest season ticket packages were reduced to $100.
