I think Collins has really missed an opportunity to rally some fan support around the program.

He's made it clear that he doesn't care about the fans and doesn't really consider us as part of the program.

How simple would it have been for him to make a simple gesture to the fans to hang in there and support the players, etc?

Instead, us fans are "unwilling to see the progress."

Hey Collins, you know what else we are unwilling to see? The pitiful, unprepared defense you put on the field ever since you got here.

When you look up to the stands and don't see anybody, we are the people you said you didn't need. Guess what? We don't need you either.

He needs to make all the friends he can. This off season he needs to tour the state and build up the program with the fans. To me he has failed there, so has Stansbury. Georgia Tech is a state school, not just Atlanta.

The absence of any outreach whatsoever to the fans is really surprising. If I were the HC and looked up at so many empty seats, I'd be going on a PR campaign to encourage the fans to support the players. I remember Cremins knocking on the front door of every frat house on campus to get them on board with what he was trying to do.

why would he look up to the stands? He's too busy pointing at where our receiver went out of bounds (re: last possession of Miami game)

I don't think he doesn't care about the fans.
I think he doesn't know how to handle criticism. I mean, look, what kind of criticism could he have gotten from the press in Philly at Temple? That's way down on their totem pole of beats (sadly, Tech's is going to slip too in Atlanta media if this crap keeps up).
Remember after the Citadel loss? He bailed on the radio program that night. He was also supposed to have a speaking engagement and sent Choice instead.
Now, PJ didn't care for critics either but at least his radio show was done at a bar with live questions and not prepared questions in advance. And if you engaged him in a civil manner, he'd answer.

He can continue to alienate/shat on the fans, but he better get smart quickly and realize that winning cures most ills regarding fan support.

I think there is a deep seated sense of “us vs them” amongst GT footballers vs the alumni. Collins comes from this philosophy. It’s not surprising he is so dismissive and snarky towards the fans.

This issue is not solved by changing coaches. It needs more administration support at immersing football players in the GT experience and athletes in general.

If you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter.

Darren Waller just announced his school as “North Cobb HS” during the MNF player intros…guess he doesn’t want to associate w GT much.

This is my biggest issue. I also follow UT and Heupel who inherited a much bigger mess in a much tougher conference (I know, much the the chagrin of Collins "biggest rebuild in history"). Heupel has had some early successes but at every turn he's talked about the fans, the fans are great, we need the fans, etc. Everytime Collins has asked about the fans, he deflects. At the end of the day the reason you're earning $20mil+ is because of the fans. You don't have to listen to us but at least appreciate us and give us some encouragement to stay the course. I see none of that from this guy...

He's a fraud. The first time I heard him say "no cap" like he's some upperclassmen in highschool, I cringed, but at the time I let it slide because I believed in the "juice" and better recruiting. His whole schtick is cringe, but we'd be ok with it if we actually were to see improvement in wins.

You’re not seeing the outreach because it’s not directed at us (the alumni or long term sidewalk fans). He’s after the 404 crowd- artists and musicians in Piedmont Park, people hanging out at the Beltline, people living just south-north-east-west of the stadium, etc. Not sure what he’s doing on campus but it seems decent based on student turnout.
