Jeff Popovich joined Georgia Tech’s football staff in 2019 as cornerbacks coach and defensive special teams coordinator (kickoff and punt coverage).

The clown mentioned in his press conference last week that he now has responsibility for that unit

He doesn’t know what he is doing. Plain and simple. He fired the guy that did it and replaced him with an idiot.

After he is gone, the stories that come out of his incompetence will almost be unbelievable except it will be because we watched it

There is a reason he never gets into specifics. He doesn’t know them.

In Collins's defense, Popovich clearly needed to be fired as well.

He did need to be fired.

You can trace the demise of our punt team directly to the clown’s coaching ability. Teams have figured out his punt scheme and he is to stupid to know how to fix it or too stubborn to change.

it is OK to make a change, but we did and downgraded the punt team because the head coach thought he knew how to coach them and he clearly does not.

When Collins was the coach of Temple, the temple fan base were lamenting the demise of the special teams unit during his tenure. Apparently, it's always been a problem for him.

Collins believed in using starters on special teams, right. There's probably good reasons other teams don't do that. If your main job isn't special teams you don't focus on it.

Beamer used starters with legendary success. But I think the difference is that our coaches are really bad at coaching. In addition, special teams at VT was like the Honor Guard - special; a point of pride. Here, its nothing and nobody cares about it.

Absolutely right - even in the years we had outstanding kickers and/or punters, special teams were mediocre at best. Throw in garbage like Shanahan and Kelley and the issues are hugely magnified.

Is there anything to figure out on a punt scheme? Isn't it basically the same for all teams? Just snap it to the punter, use your 3 available backfield players to block for him, and cover your lanes downfield?
