I know money is a huge part, but what is the feeling if we go 4-8 next year, or even 6-6? Will recruiting see an uptick? No.

We have to move on. We have good players, but no one to direct them.

With this staff next year, I definitely won’t spend money to attend a game. I always wished my kids would grow up die hard fans, but I won’t blame them if they choose another school.

The paragraph above is why we have to move quick. Die hard fans are going to tell me to kill myself, but this is the feeling of the majority of the fan base. We all make mistakes, hopefully we can rectify the Collins mistake.

I am far from being a wealthy man, but I would gladly contribute $500.00 towards a fund to fire him. If 2000 fans would contribute that much, that would be $1 mil. If somehow 5000 fans would do it, then that would be $2.5 mil. Surely enough there are enough wealthy donors who could make up the difference. At any rate, HE NEEDS TO GO AND GO NOW !!!

As frustrating as things are, Tech fans love Tech. They want Tech to be good in football. Families care. Football's not important, but pulling for Tech is a tradition for many people. So, if given the chance to change this program's leadership and direction, I think a lot of people would be willing to help.

Somehow Wikipedia manages to offer the most passive-aggressively scathing critique of Collins I've seen:

On December 7, 2018, Collins was named the 20th head coach of Georgia Tech football.[3] Collins has won three games in each of his first two seasons with the Yellow Jackets. In 2021, Collins ended his losing streak to FCS opponents when Georgia Tech defeated Kennesaw State. Collins has yet to extend his winning streak at Georgia Tech beyond one consecutive game.

I'm in for $500. Let's do it immediately

Does Tech even have 2000 fans anymore?

A few weeks ago I would have said can Collins and eat his contract and try to grab Jeff Traylor from UTSA on the cheap. What he’s done in two years is nothing short of impressive. Tech couldn’t match his new contract.

I don't know why GT message boards are convinced that the buyout is a huge barrier here.
I too am interesting in how that isn't such a big barrier?
True it's not an impossible, insurmountable barrier, but has a lot of other risks that could end up just as bad as another year of Collins.

Why do you believe it isn't?
It's all a matter of finances and, realistically, we're talking about a one off cost that can be accounted for in many different ways so that $10mm in cash reserves isn't the target that needs to be hit to pull the trigger. If we're being honest, the bigger hindrance is that the annual operating budget for football needs to rise by just as much, if not more, for us to be competitive. That's a hurdle to our program's success.

While I agree on the budget being a hindrance as is, wouldn't it be likely we move in the opposite direction to account for said large one off cost?

Suppose he had not won a single game in 3 years. I think it would be more than obvious to all that he should go, and you know damn well that somehow or another Tech would come up with the money to dump him. It CAN be done.
