I had the LSAT this morning and only got out just in time to hear the start of the second half, and of course the two quarters I heard/saw on ESPNUnavailable (thank goodness my folks get DirecTV at their place) were pretty impressive.

But what happened in the first half? Was Duke actually playing well on defense to keep us from getting points, or were we just not executing? I did see in the play-by-play our first drive ended due to a fumble.

Lack of execution in the red zone. I thought Jaybo got thrown off of rhythm by the fumble and played kind of hesitant for most of the half. We had some blocking issues on the edge as well that got shored up in the second half.

Duke happened. Let's not take anything away from them. They came to play.

At this point, I'll take Duke over VT.

Their D played pretty good assignment football most of the day, thank goodness for the big plays today, Dwyer and BeBe were special.

Coach Johnson said we played to high and the lineman needed to get their pads lower...definetely saw that today- we tackeled well today.

Dukes D did a pretty good job covering the option in the first half. We started slinging th ball in the second half and DT fought for every catch. Kinda caught them with their pants down when we threw the ball though.

Let's not get carried away. I think VT will wear them down and pull away late, just like we did. Duke simply doesn't have the depth to compete yet. Their best bet is to try to strike fast and get up quick in games against the better teams.
