Defensive tackle Brandon Adams was among players that Johnson recognized as standing out.

“I think Brandon Adams made a lot of plays, but sometimes you have to also look and see who they’re playing against,” Johnson said.

Adams was a backup as a freshman last season. At 6-foot-2 and 349 pounds, Adams was used primarily in short-yardage situations. One challenge he faces is to improve his conditioning level so he can stay on the field for more plays. He played in nine games last season and was credited with seven total tackles

If Adams can be an almost every defensive snap player we are going to be very good on defense. If he can force the other teams to double team him, it frees up the other defensive players to cause mayhem.

I mean this sincerely and not disparagingly, the words "defense" and "mayhem" have not been used in the same sentence in context of a GT defense in over a decade. Would love for this to be the case but recent and remote history suggests we're more than just a good DT away. Probably a couple good DTs a great DE and a world beater LB away, and a solid secondary I guess would help

The only reason why David Pollack was worth a öööö at UGAg was because they had a stout defensive line inside that allowed him a lot of freedom. I believe Adams has the potential to allow or DE's to do similar. Teams that win normally have a really good DT or NT. Clemson and Alabama probably had the top defensive lines in the country. The freshman Clemson had last season is eventually a top 10 draft pick. Imo, the DL is absolutely the most important part of any defense. The NT is the most important part of the DL. If Adams is disruptive up front, we won't have to worry about QB's checking through receivers or teams running the ball well on us. Our LB's will be unblocked, our DE's may not be facing OT's.

Hype thrusters pre-ignition sequence initiated. Awaiting go for countdown.
I actually snuck into the first practice with pads and managed to sneak this video of Adams

He then broke loose and headed east. Here is some video taken as he arrived in Athens. Apparently, he interrupted cheerleader practice on his way to Sanford and Sons stadium

Cheerleading isn't related to football. You're smarter than that.

“I’ll tell you what I’ve seen is Brandon Adams has lost some weight, and it’s made him a better football player,” Roof said. “A lot more active, a lot more productive and if he continues to do that, I think he can be a really good player for us.”

Adams, who played last season as a first-year freshman, was listed at 6-foot-2 and 349 pounds. Pelton said that he is around 335 now with a target weight of 315 to 320 pounds.

"I'm looking forward to that," Braun said. "What we did last year to Virginia Tech, we're going to do every game. A lot more mid-line [option] . . . "

Those big uglies love smash mouth football
