  • Freshman B-back Dedrick Mills was one of the scrimmage's top individual performers. A 34-yard touchdown run to cap the first series of the day highlighted the true freshman's impressive showing.

  • Third-year sophomore A-back Clinton Lynch also turned in a strong performance, both as a runner and a receiver. He also found paydirt on a long run with a 25-yard touchdown gallop on the fourth series of the day.

  • The offense put together a 17-play, 75-yard scoring drive midway through the scrimmage. The Yellow Jackets converted two third downs and two fourth downs during the lengthy series. A 24-yard reception by Mills on third-and-nine proved to be one of the biggest plays of the touchdown drive.

  • Defensively, linemen Francis Kallon and Brentavious Glanton both forced fumbles that were recovered for turnovers.

  • Junior defensive back Step Durham had one of the defense's top individual showings with a pair of sacks.

  • Defensive back Ajani Kerr made two big plays late in the scrimmage - a diving interception and, just three plays later, a pass breakup that ended another series.

Quote of the Day:
"Mills is a good player. He's going to play a lot ... He's hard to tackle, he's a good player and he understands football."
- Head coach Paul Johnson on true freshman B-back Dedrick Mills.

It's gonna suck. They have the blueprint. Everyone knows we should have tight ends and play action pass.

That's about as close to gushing/happiness as Coach Johnson is capable of, so that's good.

Tech's OLine can even make Tech D look good not just other teams.

Yep, that good ol' Tech O-line.

Is it good? Or is someone in his ear saying, "you went 3-9 last year. Ticket sales are way down. You need to instill confidence." Because this doesn't sound like Paul Johnson.

Maybe he got abducted by aliens and replaced by a replica Paul Johnson who's always happy.

Not sure who that would be. His boss quit and Paul apparently didnt have trouble calling him out publicly anyway. But i guess anything is possible.

I'm so causiously jacked up for this season it's not funny.

lol. cute spin on offensive line play

CPJ said Nathan Cottrell didn't play because he's been out. Is he referring to the rehab on the ACL or something new? I was under the impression he was back to full strength and running well.
