Is anyone else having flashback's to the late 90's where we would score 40+ points a game and barely get a win? I really hope the defense & coaching staff can make adjustments that are effective.

Watching all those shootouts was nerve racking and it was even worse to think what could have been if we just had a decent defense. I think we were a top 5 team offensivly.

Yea...Late 90s. CPJ @ GSU. '98 National Title Runner-Up. ''99 National Title. '00. National Title. :)

Defensive Grades - Jax State - A
Clemson - C (A first half, D second half)
Miami - D
UNC - A
Miss State - C
FSU - D

This defense had a very good game not so long ago. VPI's offense was both weak and lucky not so long ago vs. Nebraska. It is not hopeless that we can shut these guys down with a great effort this week.

Wow, you are a generous grader to give them an A in the JSU game. An FCS school with their QB2 put together at least two long sustined drives on us. I guarantee CPJ didn't give em an A for that game!

+1. I'm not sure about UNC either. Did the defense play well or is their offense that bad. I agree that the first half against Clemson was good, but once Morgan couldn't get the QB we were in trouble.

Nebraska is ranked 13th nationally in total defense, and 2nd in scoring defense. Alabama shut VT down as well. These are teams with good defenses. GT's defense is not good.

At least one was against the backups though.

Good point, for sure.

But an "A" defense doesn't give up 291 yards to an FCS team who is playing with their second string quarterback, no matter how you slice it.

I'm just glad that I trust the man at the top to make the right decisions for our program. Wommack will have his shot to make things right, and then PJ will have his chance to make the right choice at the end of the year. I love that our coach wants to win so bad that he will always do what'll help us win. (He almost whipped Wes's ass just talking about playing jack rocks!) It feels so good to trust the coach.

GSU shut out UNC's offense in the 2nd half. They suck... but their Defense scored more points than GSU's offense did for the game. Can't win doing that!

I think a win is possible, but we're gonna need the defense to step up big time. Our offense has proven itself, but defense... heck they might as well stand up and let them do what they want.

I did not really truly think we would beat FSU: they were in the same psychological spot as UM, ready to avenge last year's defeat. But we did. I think we have the psych advantage on VPI: last year we lost, somewhat due to refs; we're at home; and our O is clicking. CPJ doesn't need much edge, and I think he's got plenty.
