is a book that Coach Dodd wrote in 1954 for coaches. I checked that book out a few minutes ago from the GT library. (Can you believe that it hasn't been checked out since 1995?) Thru the first few pages, he makes the same point--football is a game. Hard work and discipline are important, but at the end of the day, football is football. Has this changed over the last 50 years? My opinion is that in some places, it has. At some schools, football is king. After reading the first several pages of this, I'm wondering if this is good. I'll get back to you when I figure that part out.

He also talks about the single wing and double wing along with 5-3-2-1 and 6-3-2 defensive alignments. It should be an interesting read into the strategy of yesteryear.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Amen and amen! Football is a game played by football players, aided by coaches, and enjoyed by football fans. That's why we watch it, that's why we like it, that's why, if we were lucky, we played it. Because it is a GAME!

Thanks for the post, Indian Buzz.
