For all the people confused by the HC candidates

I looked back at when this forum was starting out and when O'Leary left. When he was gone and people started making lists of candidates and who they thought/heard it was that would be hired - Chan Gailey wasn't mentioned until the deal was pretty much done.

Don't put too much worth into the names you see and hear. People were throwing around anyone from Frank Beamer to Terry Bowden to Tom O'Brien.

The odds are in favor of Leo Mazzone scoping out the college game since he's not seeing much success in pro baseball anymore. I'm told that Leo's niece used to babysit DRad's second cousin. Deep ties.

IIRC, there were actually reports by WSB-TV that Tom O'Brien had been offered the position about a day before Gailey came into the mix.
