I remember the time when Tech often used just the T instead of the interlocked GT (which has also changed over time). Look at the picture of the Bulldog with the T sweater on below.
Personally, I think "The I" is funny, but not that marketable. However "TECH" was ours and we used to be THE "Tech". VPI, Texas Tech, etc. all had different names or had programs that lagged ours in recognition. We were "TECH". Today we're losing that to VPI, which is one reason I didn't agree with them joining the ACC. It pains me to read in the Baltimore paper "Tech" being used in an article on VPI now, when just five years ago that would be referring to us.
I think we should consider marketing "TECH" a whole lot more or we're completely going to lose the , and encourage our players to just say "TECH", etc. We need to shake the whole VPI folks grabbing on to our coattails. Any opinions out there?
