Frank Broyles

I didn't see a thread on this. Former Tech great as a player and assistant coach under Dodd. Passed away at age 92.

Hate to see that. I had been wanting to get his thoughts on the Dodd era, but his health made it impossible. A great guy who loved GT and Coach Dodd. The combination of him as OC and Ray Graves as DC was about as good as it gets. So good, in fact, it allowed Coach Dodd to literally become the first coach to delegate the in game coaching calls to his coordinators.

He played with my Dad ... Frank was a Senior when my Dad was a Freshman !

GT tried Very Hard to get him to come back but Judy (1st wife) said she wanted to raise the kids in Fayetteville .

RIP
He was approached right before Pepper was hired, and he was concerned that the BOR was so stringent on Tech's curriculum. He felf it would too tough to recruit and compete at the highest level.

If you have never had the chance, read the letter he wrote about Coach Dodd and his legacy regarding the Dodd Award....one of the best and classiest letters I have ever seen

It's a shame we couldn't have him follow Dodd...

RIP
went to alma mater, brought my home state school and rooting interest growing up to prominence
would have been nice for him to come back but Arkansas probably needed him a lot more

Frank Broyles and Keith Jackson in the booth, the best ever. Loved the "Wo Nellies" and Frank always referring to something Coach Dodd said or did.
