I know Jaybo, Embry Peeples, and Tyler Melton are going to play this year and CPJ stated that the 3 linebackers will prob redshirt.

Does anyone know who is playing/who is redshirting from 08 class?

Lockhart will probably play at A-Back.

I'll take a stab.

Jaybo, Peeples, Melton, Lockhart, Taylor will play. The rest will redshirt. I think Uzzi may still have an outside shot at playing, but if he can not come back quick enough we will not waste the shirt. Riley has an outside shot too.

Why did Lockhart go to A Back? Is it a short term decision only? How did McRae look this summer? Is Uzzi the only one that shined?

I saw the LBers and they look athletic but small and underdeveloped. Taylor does too but he seemed very steady and heady out there.

R. Watson will probably play out of necessity at B-Back. O-line is also a place that could see a frosh play eventually, depending on health (with McRae or Uzzi). Cooper Taylor will probably be #2 at Safety and will come in on Nickel/Dime. Kamaron Riley and Rashaad Reid are both listed in the 3-deep at corner as is Quentin Sims at WR, but my guess is that all 3 of them will redshirt barring major injury depletion. Wright could see time with an injury or 2 at A-Back as well. CPJ won't use a freshman/redshirt candidate on special teams if he's not going to see meaningful minutes otherwise, so all of the rest will probably redshirt.

CPJ said that he always saw Lockhart as an A-Back rather than a DB even though Coach Kelly recruited him as a DB. It looks like the staff wants to redshirt both McRae and Uzzi if at all possible, but they could be needed with a few injuries.

PJ is the reason Lockhart is where he is. He mentioned it on his radio show last Thursday. He has looked good at that spot and PJ said the D was never going to get him. Sounds like Ralphy during the Oleary years.

No mention of McRae or Phil Smith this season so the way of the redshirt is most likely.

Phil Smith is pretty skinny yet, so I'm sure he's being redshirted. I haven't heard much about McRae either though.
