Fridge would easily win 10 games a year with GT..

Conversely, Maryland's QBs are always more talented than ours, and QB talent is more important than any other position.

What a loser. Maryland has 26 players currently on NFL rosters, Tech has 13.

Wake up folks, there are lots of good things that Chan does for Tech football. He's 3-3 against the Fridge even with half as many future NFL players.

Edited, Chan actually may be 3-2 against Friedgen.

What makes you think we have more talent? If you go by recruiting rankings, they have more talent.

Year GT MD
2003 34 22
2004 35 16
2005 48 25
2006 49 27
2007 15 48

Yea I remember when Lamont Jordan really killed Gailey....

And ESPN shows us with 18 NFL players, UM with 25.

14 of Maryland's 25 NFL players played against Gailey. 15 of GT's 18 NFL players have played for Gailey.

Vanderlinden's first 2 recruiting classes who would have been Sr's and RS Sr's Ralph's first year when they won the ACC were ranked dead last in the ACC behind even Duke.

Recruiting rankings don't mean squat by themselves. They have a tendency to be scewed towards traditional football and the latest surprise team because rankings are based seem to be based primarily on whose offered and not a real independent evaluation.

As an assistant it's pretty darn good. His record against Richt isn't so hot though.

Hollenbach? Steffy? Red-headed affro guy?

Granted we had Reggie, but it's not like Fridge has had adequate QBs either.

We win 2 more games last year with Steffy, Hollenbach, or the red headed afro guy.

I wish we had a red headed afro guy... I hear Napoleon Dynamite is a 5 star quarterback. His uncle Reco taught him how to throw the ol pigskin a quarter mile.

I disagree. Without Reggie, I think we lose Troy and UMd last year. Reggie was a one man show in the Troy game, when no one else was playing. And against Maryland, his running kept us in the game after our special teams melted down.

You seriously don't think Steffy could have steered Tech to victory vs Troy, with Calvin as a target?

I'll give you a chance to reconsider. :)

Steffy is garbage, Hollenbach was ok, RHAG is not good.

therefor, your statement of Maryland's QBs are always more talented than ours, isn't true.

That's all I was saying.

Steffy is injured and has been on and off. But when healthy he's a decent QB. His rating this year has been 123.33, which isn't record breaking or anything but easily eclipses Taylor's 104.68 as well as our overall ratings as a team since 2004.

Tech had an efficiency rating of 108.3 in 'o4, 97.94 in '05, 114.9 in '06 and 104.04 so far this year. In that same period MDs have been 105.02, 129.81. 129.17 and 125.82. So yeah, I'd say MDs QBs ARE always more talented than ours, or close enough to accept it as truth.

BTW, the RHC has a 130 rating. That's all conference material when compared to Tech's performances since Goose.

I never said they were good. I just said they were better than ours. Please list how many times each of the above Maryland quarterbacks completed under 33% of their passes and threw 2 picks.

Steffy is garbage, Hollenbach was ok, RHAG is not good.
All I said was Hollenbach > RHAG > Steffy > Reggie

Ah, but does the Fridge have more talented QBs than we have? Or do they seem more talented because the Fridge has coached them?

That is one of those perennial questions of the GT board.

P.S.
I don't think the Fridge's offense works at all unless the QB is pretty smart and pretty accurate. Godsey and Hamilton were very different in the way they played but both consistently made good decisions on the field.

Also interesting to note that Tech has finished last in the league since 2004 in completion percentage as a team. That just sucks guys, no matter what the reason is. I mean, that's worse than Duke has been or UNC with the problems they've had. Whether it's talent (or lack of) or not, it's also an indictment of the offensive system when a 50% completion percentaqe is a good year.
