From ESPN: which franschise rules your city?

Sooooooooo, what would you guys say the answer is?
I think there are more Mutt fans in Atlanta than fans for any other sport. If you talk about within city limits, the Thrashers would be close.

It's definitely them, unfortunately. If you went back four or five years and said within the city limits, then the Falcons would have been very close. Now there is just no contest.

We have to convert the people who move here. It will require bad press for UGA, and beating UGA repeatedly, and getting sidewalk fans in the city to come to Tech games for cheap.

Beating UGA repeatedly and bad press for UGA go hand-in-hand. Converting the people who move here is doable aldong with getting sidewalk fans to come to Tech games for cheap since the stands are not filled.

So let's get busy with some marketing strategies.

Without exaggeration the only Ugagger I know who has a good job in the city works at Deloitte and is a CPA. Otherwise every one of those idiots works somewhere out in gwinnett or marietta being a crappy high school social studies teacher or they have a job "while they look for something else" aka "I'm a big dumb redneck who can only get a job filing papers and answering phones".

I don't disagree with them saying Atlanta is a UGA city. It was when I was there, and I can only imagine the what the last two years hath wrought. I just didn't know that there was enough janitorial and pizza delivery jobs in Atlanta to support the myriad of SEC grads. In this tight economy, I'm sure some of the gagger grads pick up a few dollars behind the Clermont manning the glory holes.

By the way, Atlanta being a Thrasher city... what town are you living in?

By what I've seen through the years I'd have to say the top three are;

1. UGA football
2. Atlanta Braves
3. __________

I cannot pick a third franchise. When GT basketball is on a roll there seems to be a lot of fan support from people who are not necessarily tied to the school as an alum or, like myself, a life-long fan.

I recall more of a buzz for Tech basketball from the mid-80's to early 90's than Tech football during and the few years following the MNC --of course Bill Lewis had a lot to do with killing the momentum that Bobby Ross had built up.

I'd like to think that GT football under CPJ will fill this slot in the near future. I really believe that this will be the case in the next couple of years. This team is young, this team has a good head coach, this team will get better and this team will win and win consistently in the years ahead --and this team is based in Atlanta, where the potential for fan base growth is there. Not to mention GT has a good, young AD in place as well --cannot leave out how important a good AD is to a program looking to grow and expand it's fan base.
