Further evidence that close game w/ clemson

I believe I have made a huge over-estimation of the ability of Tommy Bowden. I was convinced his winning at a hapless school (Tulane) was an indication of his abilities. Now, I am beginning to doubt his abilities as a coach. Maybe his head became too big for his body.

I just don't know about his situation, but it is not looking good at this time.

I have always thought Tommy Bowden was overrated and am glad folks are beginning to realize the guy has won with gimmicks, etc and not sound football. Lots of smoke and mirrors up at Death Valley the past 4 years.

I was annoyed when everyone was pointing to the Clemson game as our "key" game, because I just didn't think that Tiger team was all that good. It's a nice indicator of our team's ability, but not a "statement" game. Also liked the way the AJC played up the UGa-CU game as if it was the "BIG" game, but when we play them it's just another ACC game. Sheeshhhh. Of course, as it has turned out we may have our own problems, but that's another story.

Since 1991, Clemson has been ranked only twice in the final polls. TWICE. I think they have lost 5 or more games in 6 of the past 10 seasons. The Clemson program has really slipped since the Danny Ford era, and they have been living off their name for a long time. And I don't think Bowden can get it done up there either.

I was more upset by last year's loss to Clemson than any other loss. The Uga loss stunk, but we were a better team than that Clemson team last year and should have never lost that game.

Terry and Tommy have been living off of daddy for quite awhile. Perhaps people are waking up now.

As far as our close loss up their meaning little, our 4 wins are over teams that are a combined 8-21 I believe (if BYU goes on to lose to CSU tonight): Vandy 1-6, UConn 2-5, BYU 3-5 and UNC 2-5.

On a side note, ya gotta give Amato alot of credit at NCSU.

A lot people were saying that Rich Rodriguez was the key for Bowden. He left for WVA after the 2000 season. It looks like that might be the case because their offense has suffered since then.

I agree Tommy is nothing special and it was clear O'leary owned him, but Terry (aka Tator Tot) might be the best coach in the family.

He slapped around the good spurrier teams and he was doing it with the sec schedule.

If we would have hired the "tot" we would be undefeated right now.

Of course he would be hitting on every booster's daughter within the outer loop but at least we would be winning football games.

The biggest coaching over-estimation by far was regarding Chan and his infamous resume. Tommy Bowden totally outcoached, outsmarted, and his mediocre team outplayed Chan Gailey's team (just one example...remember Chan's timeout call before the half????). Think about that after watching NC State stomp a mudhole in klimpsum.

The ACC has added some strong head coaches in recent years....Friedgen, Groh, Amato, Grobe...for example.

It is indeed a shame, a tragedy really, that TECH didn't follow that lead and hire someone with Division 1 college coaching skills. Allowing Chan Gailey to come here and semi-retire on our dime is obviously NOT the answer.....it wasn't the answer last December and is not the answer now. It is only going to get worse.

I'm sitting out here in Beautiful down town San Antonio Tx and will be unable to attend any more home games this year and will miss them but I still have BW and his rantings. BW GET OVER IT HE's COACH and YOU ARE NOT SO JUST GET OVER IT!!!
We's heard you now for the longest time and and you take every opportunity to bash CG and his staff, like others here I got so tired of you I couldn't stand it and put myself on a self imposed exile just to keep from reading you. I know others have done the same BUT you are not going to run me off anymore but boy do you have a mouth not for good but only for bashing and if you are a TECH fan then god we don't need anymore like you.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Beeware...You obviously didn't watch the Clemson
game. Bowden didn't outcoach anyone. He rode a
big reverse play and a big kick return to a win.

Turn off the spin machine. You're making yourself

I gotta agree with CrackerJacket...
Nobody can judge CG on this years performance... Yes injuries are a given in football but I can't remember in the past ten seasons when the Jackets have been hit so hard...
I was disapointed when we lost to Clemson... I was at the game (we rowed up in our ark)... I thought that Tech should've won the game in spite of several instances of poor coaching and poor performance...
The team responded well after that loss and seemed to be getting comfortable with the new era... then the injuries strike and strike and strike... and well here we are... redshirts are having to play for heavens sake... How anyone can make an assumption about CG's abilities when he's spent most of the season plugging holes is beyond me...
just my $.02 ...
As for this weekend I'm just looking forward to seeing friends and watching the under classmen get playing time...
It's all about the future now...
GO JACKETS!!! THW#5G!!!

Throw BYU into that mix. They can't beat anyone and we struggled with them. BYU is our best win to-date. What a joke!

Good one, Cracker.

Yes, I am sure I am not Bulldog. I have enough problems being myself without posing as someone else. But, I am not above baiting an issue to get a response.
