Future Schedules

I think it’s a good location. Good to their stadium, take some öööös in the stands, leave with the W.

Bored today at work and looking at future schedules. WTF are we doing playing AT Turner Field against Georgia State in 2026? Can we fire Todd again? That dumb bastard.
That’s because it’s a home & home starting next year. That’s about the best home & home a team can schedule. Literally a 5 minute “away“ game.

It is stupid to schedule them. We have nothing to gain.
There is no reason to schedule any non-P5 team other than the service academies or ND home and home.
The only lose-lose situation is if GT loses to Georgia State. I think we all remember how close Georgia Southern came to upsetting Tech in 2014. That would have hurt.

At this point starting in 2024, playing a good non P5 program (if the P2 + MW can still be the P12) will not hurt anyone getting in the 12 team CFP. Playing VMI in 2024, Gardner-Webb in 2025, etc doesn’t count for anything. That said, the ACC, B1G, B12 all playing 9 game conference schedules (plus ND for ACC schools) should count more than the SEC still playing an 8+4 format. After the way the season has started for the SEC, they have no leverage to remain at 8 game conference schedules when everyone else is going to 9+3.

And when CFB goes to 13 game schedules (which is coming VERY soon) which means current week 0 would be week 1 and week 0 would now be 2 weeks before Labor Day annually, the SEC will have no choice but to move to a 9 game conference schedules.

If the sec moves to 9 games it will be because of money, not some need to keep up with what they and media powers believe to be inferior conferences. I have nothing wrong with a home and home but with a G5 opponent but we should frankly completely ignore GA state and pretend they don't have a team. GSU is not in the same discussion as GA state.

We lost to the ööööing citadel bro. This will be a good test of the Key regime. Lose this game and your ass is outta here. Should have been written into his contract that way.

Georgia State continues to get better. Those Sun Belt teams are good. If we do not improve from our current state (which I don’t expect) we have every reason to be worried about that game. JMU and Marshall were favored by a TD against UVA and VPI respectively.

???

I don't see this view and expect us to be much better going forward.

I think my double negative is confusing and I thought that when I wrote it.

In an attempt to clear confusion:

If this game were next week, I’d be concerned. Since it is a couple years down the road I predict we will be better then than we are now by a wider margin than Georgia State will be better than they are now and I do not foresee the game being an issue for us.

While we are on the subject of future schedules, I wonder who the coach will be when we travel to Colorado to open the 2025 season.

My guess is that this game was set up by MacIntyre and tstan - they played together under Curry.

And CO comes to GT to open the 2026 season.
