FYI-flight to shreveport

That's 4 hours of driving RT, plus parking at the Birmingham Airport.
 
It is a $500 air fare from ATL. That's $2000 for my family plus a rental car plus airport parking. I'm thinking road trip!
 
it's not a bad road trip, actually. i once drove from ATL to Dallas, and took backroads (meaning state highways only) until I reached Vicksburg... it was eerie and fun at the same time. i highly recommend it!
 
anyone else looking into flying into Dallas and driving from Dallas to Shreveport (about 200 miles)?
 
I considered Dallas, but since I could get direct flights to Shreveport for 40K Skymiles, I went ahead and did that. Dallas seemed like the next best flying option.
