Gailey MUST play more kids per game

If we dont play more kids per game than we're playing right now 4 things happen:

1. We'll have no experienced backups for this season in case of injuries
2. We'll have no eexperienced backups for next season when kids graduate
3. It REALLY hurts recruiting when kids know that if they aren't starters they'll rarely see the field.
4. Starters get tired.

I know we're short handed, but we've got to find a way to get other kids on the field. We're only making a bad situation worse by sticking with our starters til they are exhausted. (PS - Exhaustion leads to injuries)

This is the only area where I'm really concerned about Gailey's coaching.

I agree that playing young players is important and also keeps the starters fresh. UGA rotated a lot of their O-lineman in last year and it looks to have paid dividends.

A good many dbs are listed as player participants. The only non-starting linebacker listed is Newman and the only non-starting DL I see is Brezilla. We have got to give our backup LBs experience as we are losing Brown, Fox and Smith after this year. Creating some depth at DL is essential too.

I'd imagine some of those listed as participants only played special team too. We lose Reiley and Robinson (and possibly Dorsey to the NFL) so we should be rotating some OLs in as well.

While we may not have a lot of quality backups, they are going to have to be the guys next year (absent a bunch of outstanding freshman).

CG may not have played many due to our being in a tight must win game. Maybe he will shuffle them in during the Auburn game if they pull away.

I agree. We do need to sub more. Bilbo not being on the field is a travisty. He has to be on the field in some capacity. But you are right, more guys do need to see the field, if only for 3-4 plays at a time.

Same old inherent conflict. Head coach was more player to play but position coaches "have to have my best guys on the field."

FSU plays 75 a game and they don't wait unitl the 4th Qtr to put them in.

yep. Why fly them out to Utah if you aren't going to play them? Seems pretty damn wasteful and pointless to me.

Unfortunately, I think we're going to see the entire team play this Sat. But it won't be b/c we've improved our rotation.

He doesn't play the subs because he has no depth and he'll have no depth because he didn't play his subs.
D Smith made 6 tackles ,yes 6,in that game and he had to be exhausted by the end.We have to get Tugboat some plays or next yr will be LB disaster with no experience.Or will they just wait until the exhausted guys get hurt.-see Hollings,'02 .

CCG is using his expertise from the
Pro's when it comes to substitutes.

His philosphy is that the starters
can play four quarters without a
rest, much like the Pro's do.

I understand that we do not have
depth. However, how in the hell
we will ever develop any depth if
we don't play some of these kids
that we have heard so much about?
