Gailey to SMU?

Gailey leaving for another school or the NFL would save us four million dollars that could be put to much better use.

It would be a nice end to his Tech career with a victory over UGa and a bowl win. That would do a lot to soothe things. And I'm sure Gailey would like to hand Richt his backside once before he leaves.

If Gailey is smart, he should already be looking at somewhere else to go. There are a lot of Stingtalkers who want him fired even if he finishes with back to back 9 win seasons (not me, but plenty others) and if those are representative of the demographics of the Tech fanbase, then he's clearly lost all hope of regaining their confidence.

Dunno how representative stingtalkers are, but I've lost any confidence. It's so bad, I'm considering selling my UGa tix.

I know plenty of tech fans who would like tickets, so let me know if you do :)

Do we have to pay Gailey if we fire him and he finds another job? I seem to remember that Auburn didn't have to pay Bowden if he found another coaching job. Terry took the broadcasting job just to stick it to his old employer.

Yes. But if he quits early, then he owes us money. So there's a happy medium in there where both parties can come to an agreement and part ways on good terms, which would honestly be the best thing for both Chan and for the program.

I think tech still would because he still is under the terms of the contract for his salary. It's like Nfl players, if they're under contract and the team drops them I pretty sure the team still has to pay the player his salary even if he is picked up by another team.

Normally I think the way it works is that you have to assure them of the amount. Meaning if he took another job paying half what we owe, we still pay him half. But it really all depends on how the contract was written.
