in the NFL where the teams are so similar - turnovers REALLY lay a HUGE ROLE.

Same thing in College Football if the teams are equal.

In our 3 loses - not only did we turn the ball over a lot - unforced quite often I might add - the opposition (for the most part) played error free football - and that is not just very few turnovers, but no blocked kicks / no special teams blunders.

Just imagine if their (UNC) punt returner fumbled with the score 7-0 and then we run it in to make it 7-7. It is a whole different game.

This is football - where luck, bullcrap, ref calls, turnovers and mind-numbing stupid playing rule the roost!!! Not who controls the line of scrimmage.... give me a break!

Agreed, mostly. We were turning the game/momentum around in our favor before those turnovers.

2 fumbles, 2 scores, and 2 minutes later UNC had all the momentum and never gave any back.

And the difference between teams playing in BCS bowl games and the rest of the teams is that they can overcome all of these things. With a better o-line we could be one of those teams.

This game was different then the other losses. Against VPISU and UVA, they were close games, that came down to deciding plays. Yesterday, it was the what-if game that I used to play after watching for the last few years. I never had that feeling yesterday that we were going to win. I think that's why so many people are irked today. It was reminscent of games we played under he who shall not be named.

Basically, yesterday we got beat. Not robbed, not jobbed, not ACC reffed. Just beat. Yesterday felt like last year. I hope that's the last time.

I couldn't agree more. It's something like a 6th sense (and I ain't talking about seeing dead people). You can kind of tell when we are "all there" or not.

You make some very valid points here but I disagree with the "who controls the line of scrimmage" part. Our GT team is doing much much better on offense than I thought they would do as the season opened.

As another poster stated earlier, (JD I think it was), we're simply not at the really good team state yet. GT does appear to be a pretty fair country ball team presently, but with a lot of promise. I do believe in a year or two, maybe three, we'll be right in the thick of the high gear teams throughout the NCAA. We'll get better due to CPJ's coaching abilities, we'll get better due to recruiting the players that he sees a need for, and we'll get better simply due to the players becoming more familiar with what CPJ is wanting.

As fans, we just need to be patient and supportive of the program, fertilize and water it, and watch us grow.

I get the impression CPJ is fond of Jaybo. I am too. I really want him to be our QB but CPJ should have that dude running steps until his tongue is hanging out of his head. Do they run steps at Tech?

well, if you want to compare college to NFL, you can also look at the fact that 2 of our 3 losses are on the road.

The defensive scheme that has emerged to stop us this year is to take away the pitch, give us 3 vs 3 on the inside, limit our gains to under 10 yards, and let us drive until we fumble.

Which is where improved OL play will help us in the future. If we can consistently chew them up inside they have to adjust to a more honest look that opens up the pitch again.

The quarterback at Navy typically runs the ball 40-50% of the time. With an injured QB, you just can't do that. That's what teams are doing to us.

When Jaybo comes in, he runs the ball when he's supposed to and we do a lot better. Of course, then they can cheat on the pass a little.

Excellent thought.

This is a great point that shows where the progression of the program is under PJ right now. Typically if a team does this we would run the dive for large gains until they adjusted. Right now our offensive line is not good enough to establish this. I think we will be surprised against Miami in a very positive way.

If Jaybo could stop fumbling the ball I agree he should be the starter. He is quicker then Josh and runs the TO better then Josh.

Here's the thing for me. With PJ's team I'm encouraged and excited about the team even though right now we are making a lot of mistakes. You know things are only going to get better and our offense will look drastically different in a couple of years.

With Gailey I was bored and set in the fact that it wasn't going to change and for the most part it would not improve. It was just a matter of whether it could get worse.
