Gailey will not be fired...

.... is my prediction for the coming week. I am indifferent in any direction. I am not going to claim to know all of the elements of a good business decision in this case. Here are some of the points that I think will come into play:

1. We had a new QB this year. This is tough to deal with for any coach and the coach is not to blame for it. This situation did not work out well for Gailey, this year, though.

2. New OC. Not that Bond gets to do anything flashy, anyway.

3. Not all blame is on the offense because the defense was especially soft in the secondary this year.

4. Gailey has been on probation until this year. Will we be able to have a full class this Feb? If so, then we get our first full class for '08.

5. We had a tremendous recruiting class for this year. We have a good one coming in for next year.

If Gailey & Co. is to stay, Rad needs to sit down with the coaching staff and let them know that he is expecting something special in '08. He needs to explain to them that it is hard for him to market their product. The defense is exciting, but the offense is narcoleptic. Some major changes need to occur on offense.

Please expound on this counter-point to the general predictions on this board. I think outside sources have confirmed our pessimism, but I don't know if they are believable. If anyone thinks he is really going, please give a reasonable explanation why you think so.

6 losses against (u)ga, I know, I know. I wish that were grounds for firing, but apparently it isn't. What is so special about the number 6? Why wasn't he let go after 3, or 4, or 5? Please avoid using this discussion point.

You're wrong!

0-6 vs. the nad lickers should be reason enough!
QB Development
Chan's lack of media savvy (probably didn't say that right)
Chan's lack of motivational skills
Chan's unwillingness to involve former lettermen

Most of all a fan base divided probably 50/50 and could be worse.

Dan R. sees a possible drop of season tickets next year which means losing money.

I also think that Dan's been here long enough to have an emotional attachment to GT and he's seen and heard enough.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but here goes:

If Gailey's record in total is still acceptable to you, how much worse would it have to be for you to get off the bandwagon?

How many consecutive losses to UGA?
How many most lopsided losses?
How many consecutive un-ranked seasons?

He is gone! Mrs. Bond was overheard saying immedialey after the game, "I guess it is time to go home and pack".

Re: GAILEY NEEDS TO BE FIRED... NOW

He Needs To Go Now!!!!!!! How Can Someone Sit Thru 6 Seasons 0-6 Against His Rival And Continue To Lose????? He's A Freaking Idiot!!!! My Grandma Could Coach Better Than Him!!!!!!!!

Email her number to the AD, I'm sure she would work cheaper than most coaches these days.

We would at least get media attention :lol2:

First off you are wrong. Gailey is gone and I would bet a lot of money they make an announcement tomorrow or Tuesday.

Second, Rad already sat down with Chan for the 2007 season and set clear expectations for this year as to what needed to be achieved. Chan has not met ANY of those goals.

In response to your avitar...

We just need to nip it in the bud Andy. Nip It In The Bud.

Let me turn this around and ask, why should we expect something special in '08?

Without adding too many arguments and only stating facts, why should we expect changes in outcomes if the status quo remains in the program direction?

As I see it, we have 4 or 5 signature wins in 6 years, and I think that I am being generous.

NC State '02, Auburn '03, Auburn '05, Miami '05, and VT '06

As a counter point, we have some really awful record-breaking worst losses in GT history:

UGA, Clemson, Duke, and a bowl game

We have beaten only one team (Clemson) with a better than or equal to .500 record in over 365 days dating back to Miami on Oct. 28, 2006, with the 'Canes finishing 7-6 in 2006.

We have not finished in the Top 25 even once in 6 years.

We have struggled at the QB position for 6 years and have gone through a long litany of prospects that seem to show little development.

Given these facts, it is very hard for me to have confidence in seeing anything different in the future if the status quo continues in the program direction.

Those facts do not include the results against UGA, which tend to make the situation look even bleaker.

BOR, I believe your correct. DRad did have a talk with Gailey after last season and set an acceptable criteria for this season. It was never announced though what that might be.

These are problems every college football team faces...and good ones overcome.

Not to mention all the other negative reasons people already listed.

If it happens, it better happen tomorrow or Tues. How can I be wrong? Nothing has happened yet. I'm just stirring the pot with some counterpoints.

I'm pissed at Chan and am tired of feeling like a loser because of him. I'm tired of his talented players being losers. I don't think he fits the bill for a college coach (Steve Spurrier being my model). There is no fence sitting with this grad.

I have gained 1 thing from this post, and that is the fact that no one is willing to support the notion that he is staying. Fair enough.

I can't say whether or not he will be fired or leave of his own accord but I can tell you this:

Either he goes or I go.

I'm not as young and resilliant as I was during the Curry and Lewis years. Maybe I was too optimistic this year but this just isn't what I bargained for when I ponied up my Tech fund contribution and season tickets.

Rad can keep Gailey if that's what he thinks is best. I won't question his decision but, in my mind, we'll never win anything with Gailey at the helm. They guy doesn't know jack about how to teach a team to win.

And as far as all the crap I keep reading around here about needing a guy with fire. Baloney. I even said it myself once. I was wrong.

We don't need a guy with fire, we need a guy who can teach our kids how to win. The kids already have enough fire.

I hate to say this but the article I read about how Richt has developed Stafford into a self-sufficient quarterback who can run the offense in just one and one-half seasons was all I needed to see to understand why they are so far ahead of us.

Ralph taught Joe H. in a similar way. Ralph taught Joe "how to fish."

Particularly ironic was the quarterback draw play that Stafford scored on. That was Ralph's play. He had Godsey run that play against UGa in 2000 for a score from about the same point on the field. Ask Bobo. He was there.

That was the final insullt.

Go back to the NFL Coach Gailey. They don't need teachers in the NFL. And you, sir, are no teacher.

Coming off a 9 win season, playing in the ACCCG, and a trip to the Gator Bowl, I seriously doubt the criteria for keeping his job would have been 7-5, another loss to Georgia, a QB that played poorer than RB, and a bowl in Boise.
