Bottom Line: Gailey has had 19 games in his GT tenure that opponents have scored 25 or more points against us. He has had 13 games when opponents have scored 30 or more points against us.

His record: 1-18 on 25 or more and then 0-13 if they score 30 or more. By comparison, Mark Richt is about .500 with the same situation.

We all know this but when you really do the math it is frightening.

Seems like a better title for this thread would have been Tenuta's defense.

Re: Gailey's Offense/Tenuta's Defense

I think it was Marion Campbell who stated that the defense's job was to hold the offense to 17 points or less, and you should win the game if the defense does it's job. I would open that up some and say the defense should hold the offense to 21 or less. You're not going to win consistently if someone is scoring 30+ points on you.

Isn't it Bond's offense anyway? Who was making the calls up until the end of the fourth quarter?

Ok. So look at more than 21 points scored on us. Gailey is 9-22. Still awful.....

I've always believed that our magic number was 21 points under Gailey. If a team scored more than 21 points it was over for us.

I agree that we could blame the defense but they should not have to always carry the load. We should have the ability to comeback and win against a team that scores more than 21 points against us.

You should look at what is Gailey's record when the opponent scores 21 points or less; but I still see your point and we have not had an offense that is satisfactory any year under Gailey. Our two big losses last year, UGA and Wake, you can blame on the offense. The last loss, West Virginia, you can place on the defense. The Maryland loss is perhaps an exception to this 'rule of thumb', the defense gave up 28; but scored 7.

We do have the ability to comeback and win games when 21 or more points are scored. The issue is that Gailey's conservativism does not allow the talent to flourish on or off the field.

He, by his own admisson, stifles any "swagger", he dislikes players who become bigger than he is. He actually trains his players to take the heat with the media, sheilding him. I could go on and on with examples of how Chan is more interested in his public image as a coach than he is of winning games and developing players and a team. The epitome of Coward is what Chan did to Reggie Ball. Every week he publically pressured Reggie and destroyed RB confidence. He did little or nothing to help Reggie out on the filed. (exemplified by the fact that RB's 3 passing options were based on the negative assumption that RB might throw an interception. Why do you think Aikmen wanted him out of Dallas??
This team is very talented, top to bottom, they are just broken hearted. Chan took their spirit away from them. Ask a few of the players who have left..they know. Ever work in an office with a demoralizing boss??

I've made my decision on Chan as HC at Tech, but I have to admit I have no idea what you're talking about.
