Gailey\'s Quotes even piss you off!

"If you panic, you lose," Gailey said. "To me, that's the worst thing in the world you can do. You've got to stay the course, do what you know is right, and keep fighting."

Well they need to get some sense of ergency, they are loosing anyway! The worst thing is to loose to Wake Forest and being Killed By Maryland. If he thinks we are on any thing but a crash coarse, we are in bad trouble. Fighting? They fought until Maryland made adjustments, then they got knocked out!

"You have to go to work, practice and fight," Gailey said. "You have to hang together. That's all we know how to do."

If that is all he knows how to do, we are in deep s--t. He needs to know how to fix about 50 mistakes from last night.(12 men on the field 2 or 3 times, motion, delay of game 2 or 3 times, holding, fumbles, 3 yard passes on 3rd down and 10, throwing the ball over the top of the stadium on 4th and 15, tackling, etc, etc, etc)

Re: Gailey\'s Quotes even piss you off!

Chan Gailey is a vagabond pro coach that came here to make some easy money to get back home to the state of Georgia as a 'semi-retirement'.
He had NEVER coached a division 1 college game in his life. He was/is totally unprepared for the current demands and talents required of a divison 1 coach.
He has no motivational ability, no recruiting ability, not much coaching ability. He has put together one of the worst staffs in the history of college football.
He has taken over the offense and run it in the ground. Anyone that thinks that Gailey is not in total control of the offense has their head in the sand.
And after watching Tenuta's defense against Wake and Maryland it makes Roof's d's look like the 1985 Chicago Bears.
All of Coach O'learys hard work down the drain in one year....all thanks to the incredible folly of Dave Braine.
Pitiful, just pitiful.

Re: Gailey\'s Quotes even piss you off!

Well I think you're brought it upon yourself. We were about to sign Jimmy Robinson but there was a groundswell of opposition from so-called football experts who didn't like his resume.

Sometimes the best things in life are right before your nose. A lot of experienced Georgia Tech football people tried to let you know that Jimmy Robinson was just that. But - no - you wanted a high profile former Dallas Cowboys coach.

No one would be able to match Robinson's enthusiasm for Tech. The team would be foaming at the mouth before the game. And not contrived -he just loves Tech so much that his infectious zeal would keep the team in a permanent hyped up state.

He sent his daughter to Tech and she graduated with a 4.0 GPA. Robinson only had a 3.8 when the overall average GPA was 2.3.

There's a reason "Mr. Excitement" was called that.
He's damned exciting. Just talk to him about Tech. No recruit would be able to resist "Mr. Exciteman's" pull.

You know, sometimes you can over think things. Vince Dooley was an approximately 31 years old Auburn backfield coach when Geogia hired him as head coach.

We gotta go with Kim King and the other knowledgeable Georgia Tech football people.

If "Mr. Exciteman" were back here, we would all be excited - guaranteed.

Again, I know – you got all those reasons about lack of head coaching experience, lack of coordinator's experience. But you know, do you think we should bank on your judgment or Kim King's.

Yeah dude, it was your judgment that got us into this pickle. If you had accepted Kim King's judgment as well as others in the know – you would be happy now. So Mr. football expert, you got what you asked for.

Re: Gailey\'s Quotes even piss you off!

you guys are like little babies whining and crying. you do not have any facts (neither do i .. but i realize that). who knows what is happenning on the side lines? (you and i sure don't .. especially beeware .. cause he doesn't know JACK)

gailey is a good football coach. he HAS to be given a chance. we cannot afford to have a revolving door for the head coach position. At the VERY least, he has to be here for 2 whole seasons to be "judged" by folks like you and me .. (beeware has already judged him .. he'd done that for anyone who would have been hired by the way .. because his favorite coach was not hired by the AD)

HELLO ANYONE!!! Chan was not Braine's first choice. It was O'Brien. Maybe JR would be great but I sure as hades do not want another coach just because he went to GT. I give Chan the rest of the year, but if things continue like this I want Beamer even if it is 3 million per year.

Re: Gailey\'s Quotes even piss you off!

I think we have a classic example of bad decision making. Braine picked the wrong guy. That being said, we have to live with the consequences and try to make the best of the situation. Gailey's statement of, "we can't panic, we must stay the course" are indicative of the problem. He is set in his idea of the way things are and the way they will be. His judgement is faulty and he does not know it. There is no one pulling him to the side and saying, hey Chan, look buddy, we got some problems here and we need to rethink our direction.

He is hell bent on running his offense even though we do not have the personnel or coaching to run it. He is sticking with Suggs, even when the most casual observer can see that Bilbo brings a lot more creativity and excitement to the team and is producing points where AJ is not. Like someone said before, even if he has draw the plays up in the dirt, let him go and see what happens. I don't know what has happened to the defense the last two weeks, but they seem to be mailing it in. It's time to play some other guys and see if they want represent the school with a little more courage. Defense is about attitude and aggressiveness, I don't know what has happened to our guys on that side of the ball but somebody better shake things up or we are going to be routed by some of the teams down the line. In a lot of ways the inability of the offense to make things happen, leads to the defensive play. When you think things are hopeless, it is hard to continue to fight. That is exactly when you have to fight the hardest. Make a play, get a turnover, make a big third down stop, score on defense. I don't see our defense with that kind of energy. Time to make changes not stay the course.

I think Gailey was the wrong guy, but he is now our guy. So I am going to support him and the team. His only hope this year is to make changes and unfortunately his statements indicate that is something he is unwilling to do. If he let's this thing spiral out of control, I will no longer support him. Our guys and Tech deserve better than that.

Go Jacekts!

Re: Gailey\'s Quotes even piss you off!

I like the quotes. He's not blaming people, he's calling for unity in times of trouble, he's not being a Pollyanna about our situation.

Re: Gailey\'s Quotes even piss you off!

beeware, I must say that at one time I thought you were over the edge but I totally agree with you that Ted Roof has taken less talent at Duke and done so much more with it than Chan's man Tenuto. This
whole thing has made me sick. I sincerely do not think we will win another game this season and with the two game losing streak we are on now could extend to a seven game losing streak. Won't that make all the stud recruits want to come to Tech? Again this is something for Chan's apologists to think about.

Re: Gailey\'s Quotes even piss you off!

Beeware!
You are right in you analysis of the situation. Dave Braine got a call from an alumnus and all of a suddenly the search stopped!

I never liked this hire and I was afraid of the circumstances ... needless-to-say, my worst fears have reared its ugly head! I do believe there is something happening internally and I hope in the long run, it ends up for the of good the program, team and the fans. I can't believe it's all that good internally!

Re: Gailey\'s Quotes even piss you off!

A mystery alumnus!! Controlling the AD!! We're just like Auburn!!

Wow, Ms Tech! Don't keep us in suspense! Who is it?

Initials aren't G.P.B., are they?

Re: Gailey\'s Quotes even piss you off!

Big Buck, I continue to stand by my assessment of Roof's misfortunes. He was held back and saddled with O'Leary's defensive scheme. He is free to run his own defense and is doing better.
