Game Ball to Durant Brooks

Pretty much for lack of anybody else putting out any kind of decent effort.

Defense got a couple big INT's to save scores, but only sack was on the next-to-last play of the game - Guess that was Tenuta's "bend but don't break" epitomized. Hard to trash the D when they pitch a shutout, but it seems like it was more UNC's ineptitude than our performance that got us there.

Reggie was totally worthless, offense got numerous bad penalties to get us out of FG range and otherwise kill drives, Calvin with only 3 catches for 15 yards, an amazing mind fart call by Nix on 3rd and 1 in UNC territory early by not running Tashard, etc., etc., etc. Nix's game plan was non-existent. No adjustments at all were made in the locker room at halftime.

Hopefully Taylor Bennett can get a half in against Duke - That's not really decent prep for Ugag (looks like they are resurrecting themselves with Stafford playing against Auburn today), ACCCG, and bowl game, but it's really scary to have no actual backup at all for Reggie when he plays like he has the last few games.

He can share it with Choice and Scott.

Other than Choice the entire offense didn't bother showing up. I hope Gailey wears their ass out this week in preparation for Duke.

Reggie may have been the total problem today. He blew numerous open throws and racked up yards on screens.

Hope he gets the kinks worked out by the time we play ugag.

Brooks is the best punter I've ever seen at GT. Period.

He's money in the bank...

Yes, he's good, but don't forget Lothridge.

Non-gineer ...

most of the Tech fans who SAW Lotheridge punt (pass or kick) are either already dead or so old their children have to describe the action to them because they can no longer see :D

Durant Brooks. Georgia Tech. All-American.

I hate punting but I love this dude. One of the best I've witnessed in 40 years of TECH football. The man's a stud. We need more of them.

GOD BLESS GEORGIA TECH.

Regardless of what his net average was today, it was hurt by having to remove 18 or 19 yards from the total because of the foul up near the unc 1.

I don't study too many punters, but he has the whole package; pooches inside the 5 and 60 yarders as well.
If Bobby Dodd were coaching today's game, we may have been quick kicking on 2nd down! He is a beast.

au contraire my young friend. I distinctly recall seeing Lotheridge wear Georgia out 3 times in a row. Of course I was 8, 9, and 10 years old at the time. Billy the Kid as he was affectionately known at the time was one smart football player but he had lots of help.:D

BOR that statement is all but a slap in the face to the o-line who did more than a fair job of getting Choice running room and giving Reggie pretty goog protection.

Grant had sone good runs as well.

Reggie didn't have a good game.

Three good things about today:
1. A win at Chapel Hill and a division championship; playing poorly and winning surely beats all of the early trips we made to Kenan.
2. "Longing for Dodd" must be ecstatic - 7-0 with the punter the star of the game.
3. Tenuta gets a shutout before the folks in baby blue.

Much work to do to make this season even better. Let's hope we look a lot better in the home finale next week.

Artesian ...

how is that soft food diet they have you on at the nursing home :-) ?

Actually I am old enough myself. My first GT game was at Legion Field vs. Alabama in 1963. I was 7 and my dad carryied me down there to cheer for the Yellow Jackets. I live in Gainesville now. Lotheridge and Martin are still remembered here for their high school exploits.

Re: Artesian ...

Billy Lotheridge was the greatest of all time at TECH. He literally did it all plying his trade in the old SEC and wound up Heisman runner-up to golden boy Roger Staubach.

This kid Brooks is sumpin special though.
