In the game opening it shows the major GT highlights. I just don't understand how this one is not on there:

Yellow Jackets 20, Bulldogs 16 (Nov. 30, 1989, at Grant Field)

Tech's Gary Lee returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to give the Yellow Jackets the lead for good. Georgia rushed for 341 yards and came from behind twice before Lee's return. The victory was a significant one for the Yellow Jackets, who went on to win a share of the national title the next year. "A lot of people thought we had turned the corner," said Jim Lavin, an offensive lineman on that team. "We beat Georgia and went 7-4 and got snubbed out of a bowl game. That made people a little hungrier the next year."

This is my all time greatest highlight Gary Lee running through the fog.

And why are there not highlights from our mini streak with GOL. It is ridiculous to snub those teams. We need to bring the beating UGA back as a focus and it is time we remember some of the wins in the more recent past. There are way too many highlights from the CG era.

There's a lot of highlights from CG because it's most recent. Most highlights films bias towards more recent years, and usually with good reason. Similarly, it's been a while since we beat Georgia, which is probably why the rivalry isn't as highlighted.

There are way too many highlights from the CG era.

The CG era was like twice as long as the O'Leary era, and the song is only so long.

This is a dumb thing to be angry about.

This happened in 1985.

I must agree with the OP on this. I thought the same thing the first time I saw it, but now I just ignore that opening video. At least 25% of the video is from CG's reign of terror. We have a storied past and we fill up 1/4th of the Georgia Tech football team's historic highlight reel with Gailey??

You are right about the date mover but it is still the best damn highlight IMHO for us in the last 30 years. We were coming off a string of horrid years and a losing streak to the Dawgs. Reduce some of the Gailey ones and add back some of the others from Ross and Oleary. We got rid of Gailey because we wanted to beat UGA and get in the hunt for the ACC titles like these two did. Lets emphasize it to the our base.

I agree. They must have lost the footage.

Another one who was there. I was Upper West/South and Gary went down the East sideline to the North endzone. With the fog drifting in. The fog wasn't thick enough to decide the outcome but it was some terrific atmospherics. Everybody went nutts. 1985. One of the most memorable games.

The CG era was like twice as long as the O'Leary era, and the song is only so long.

O'Leary: 1994-01 (7.5 years)
Gailey: 2002-07 (6 years)

JoltinJacket,
Wonders what beej's been huffing.

In beej67's defense, it certainly seemed like the CG era lasted twice as long. Also during the CG era, it seemed like everyone wanted to say that the years that we had Fridge didn't count for O'Leary. In that case, CG was here about twice as long.

My guess is it comes down to quality of footage. Also, most of the plays in that intro are very quick cuts of film. If they used Gary Lee's return it would be pretty low quality and they only way you get the full effect is to show the whole thing.

Well 1994 was a BL year, so it clearly doesn't count, and 1995 and 1996 didn't really have any highlights, so they don't count either. So that makes it 5 years for O'leary. And 2001 was a big disappointment, so that makes it more like 4.

Gailey's years we added an extra game, so that's like 10% more season. And Gailey used to run that boring ball control offense, which took forever and made games seem to drag on for days, so that's like 20% more season on top of the 10%. Plus we had Calvin, who has got to be worth at least 3.33% more highlights in and of himself, so really Gailey's tenure should be expanded by 33.3%.

6*1.33=8=4*2, so yeah, I'm right.

I swear.

It's hard to compare highlights from different eras. There's no doubt today's highlights are bigger, stronger, and faster than they have ever been.
