Gardner having surgery?

This is sad news for Andrew and the Tech family. Seeing as how he's one of our captains and the glue that holds our o-line together, it will be a big loss if he is out for the rest of the season.

Obviously though, the priority needs to be put onto his and his family's future.

We just cant catch a break. Get well soon Andrew! Do you what you think you should do.

I actually know him. Awesome guy.
I hope he makes a fast recovery and hopefully gets drafted.

From the sounds of it today he has already decided he will go ahead with it and end his season or that is the vibe I got today around some of the coaches. Andrew has given all he can to GT the last couple years, he has been a warrior out there.

I will never forget him arriving on campus so undersized and blossoming into one of the best we have had here in a while on the OL.

Andrew is a great young man and has to do what is best for his family and himself moving forward. Good luck to Andrew tackling those NFL dreams, it was a pleasure to get to know you and watch you grow here on and off the field.

Nick Claytor- Its your turn!

Agreed with dems completely. Gardner gave his all and has been an anchor on our somewhat tumoltuous OL for quite a few years. Best of luck, and hope to see his name come up on draft day.

Oh man, that really sucks.

Holy smokes that sucks.

I hope he gets some play in the NFL. I hope Claytor can step up into his role.

This makes me really want to punch my UGA fan friends complaining about how they have depth problems.

Nick will do fine. But ive David Brown may be out for the year with a spinal injury.

Given how tough we all know Andrew is I can only imagine how painful the injury must be. He's given us more than we have any right to expect so now it's our turn to support him 100% in what I can only imagine was one of the most difficult decisions he's had to make.

I know I'll be cheering for his success with all I've got!

AJC says that CPJ said David could be back this Saturday.

I don't know David myself, but my brother does and we all went to the same high school. He's been plagued by problems his entire Tech career. He came in as a highly rated DE prospect, ended up redshirting his freshman year and came down with mono which caused him to miss spring practice after that season. This caused him to get stuck down on the depth chart and switched from DL to OL 2 years ago, where he got some playing time in jumbo formations as an extra tackle.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'll be really bummed out if #55 can't play again. Unlike Gardner, he has no potential NFL career AFAIK.

Official per the AJC: Gardner is having season-ending shoulder surgery on Thursday.

Hope Claytor and Barrick can step up at the Tackle spot.

I really do not believe the AJC unless a miracle happens. When I spoke with David Saturday he could not even move his neck one inch. He is in a lot of pain.

I am thinking Miami for him.
