Gary Patterson

The guy had 3 years in 10 when he won more than 7 games once he joined the Big 12. The last 4 years gradually got worse with back to back losing seasons. TCU fans complaint about him was the game passed him by and he refused to adjust.

Once a coach is fired from a P5 school they hardly ever go to another P5 school and achieve sustained success. The only exception seems to be the Nick Saban rehab center for coaches who don't coach good (i.e. Sark and Kiffin).

Sounds familiar. Will he hire Sewak to coach the OL?

Had sustained success post firing
Cutcliff
Leach

Orgeron didn’t really get an opportunity to sustain success.

That’s all I can think of, but based on that list we should hire Freeze since Ole Miss accounts for two of those guys.

Edit: Did Holtz get fired from Arkansas?

Did Holtz get fired from Arkansas?

Per the all-knowing, irrefutable Wiki (emphasis added):

"Holtz was then dismissed following a 6–5 campaign in 1983. At the time, athletic director Frank Broyles stated that Holtz had resigned because he was "tired and burned out", and was not fired. Broyles testified 20 years later that he had fired Holtz because he was losing the fan base with things he said and did. Holtz confirmed that he had been fired, but that Broyles never gave him a reason, although reports cited his political involvement as a major reason: controversy arose over his having taped two television advertisements from his coach's office endorsing the re-election of Jesse Helms as Senator from North Carolina at a time when Helms was leading the effort to block Martin Luther King Day from becoming a national holiday."

Because it isn't Geoff Collins.
So my take before this fourth season was three years is not enough time to rebuild after the all-in program commitment to the triple option and I was going to be patient. It's not like any coach could walk in here and suddenly win games with the state of the program post-PJ. However, I quickly changed my mind these first few games because you can clearly see serious coaching flaws. GC hasn't improved any of his awful clock management that has always been an issue. I was embarrassed for our team when Dabo LOL'd after he did a simple shift against our punt formation to trick us into using our final timeout when it was still a game. A blocked punt doesnt implicate a staff but when you get one every game, suddenly you question everything about the staff. We are very unprepared for each game. We continued to false start the entire Clemson game when they would execute their DL shift. By the fifth or sixth false start, I was disgusted how our staff couldnt get our guys ready for it. It's not like this is the first time Clemson shifted on the DL, or any other team for that matter. It's standard stuff. Finally, even the announcers said GT looked totally unprepared for anything Ole Miss was doing. Unprepared is the common word used every game. I've seen enough and I was willing to wait this out another two years before this year.

Leach was fired for putting a kid in a shed. I guess I should have been more specific in my wording. "fired for on field results"

Coach Os time at Old Miss and LSU point toward more he got lucky with good staff and incredible QB for a couple years. Almost nothing about his resume indicated he deserved a head coaching role other than he looked like he should be the head coach of LSU. Just another Gene Chizik that caught lightening in a bottle with a Heisman talent.

For every Cutcliffe that was fired too early, there were 10 that failed again at their next school. Tuberville, Les Miles, Charlie Weis, Willingham, Rich Rod, Sumlin, Strong, Muschamp, Edsall, Bielema, John L Smith. Ron Zook, Gerry Dinardo,
