Geoff Collins needs to listen to this

Yea, big talk from a guy that will be beaten down by the end of the season as the Falcon's secure the cellar once again.

Any chance the AD can have Collins listen to this

I think you missed the point of his talk. If you listen, he is basically saying pep talks are useless.

College and NFL have nearly zero translation. The NFL has a salary cap and competitive balance where the only difference between the top team and the bottom team might be a single player (QB). In college, you can want it as badly as you can possible want something but there is no amount of will power that can overcome a talent gap that is more often present in each game than not.

I wished I could disagree. However; I simply cannot. I am a big Falcons fan. However; you have to call a spade, as spade. We have a BAD (repeat BAD) defense.

If my current employer paid me next to nothing or I worked for free then I might need pep talks to encourage me to show up and do my job. However, I’m paid a decent salary and I know what’s expected of me, so I don’t need pep talks.

What if you were an intern for the company trying to impress your next employer?

He also said that coaches can get a little to caught up in height, weight, speed, vertical... Need football players with Attitudes, He talks about Coach Saban and Belichick. I thought Collins said he was mentored by Saban, oh well.

He makes a good point but this applies to professional football more than college. Also after telling us pep talks aren’t important he turns around and basically gives us a pep talk about not giving pep talks.

Again, check back with us after the Falcons at least play their first real game (pre-season doesn’t count).

This is intentionally going to be a bad season. The organization won’t openly say it, but they aren’t in it to win this year. On top of that, the Falcons should consider trading Grady Jarrett. Reason? As pointed out on ”Movin’ the chains” on the XM NFL Radio, the cap is going to explode next year. The Falcons will be in position to buy themselves a team via FA. Winning 7 games last year could have hurt more than it helped from a draft position standpoint, but in the end it didn’t. They got a very good WR in Drake London, then came back for Ridder.

One thing for sure, peptalk or no peptalk, Collins players quit on him. He does not garner their respect. They quit playing in the Notre Dame game. And they quit playing in the Georgia game. No excuse for that.
Quitters quit. iiwii

I was born the year the Falcons were brought to Atlanta. The Dallas/Falcons playoff game in 1980 with Bartkowski at QB was when I first realized the futility of being a Falcons fan.

I realized it when Dave Hampton became the first Falcon to reach 1,000 yards rushing in a season. And then was promptly hit for a loss and sent back under the 1,000-yard mark and the season ended. Oh for the love of Bubba Bean and Sonny Collins.

That would pretty much turn all his talk on culture on its head, no?
